Although I really admire Ken Parker for his vision and dedication to his craft, and also the fact that Spot sounds wonderful, I have to confess, I find this guitar aesthetically unattractive. I am sure some will love its quirkiness but, personally, if I was spending a lot of money on an arch top, I would not be considering this as an option.
Interesting ideas Ken, sounds great.
If I bought an expensive banjo and it sounded like this I would be pretty annoyed. It sounds beautiful, but nothing like a banjo to me.
Would it have perhaps sounded better if the mic were aimed at the sound port?
People seem to forget that guitars are working tools and art sculpture these expensive guitars are beautiful works of art. I make guitars my self and to hand build a guitar takes alot of work .also they might be expensive but good investments I am going to sell my Hot rod and buy me a sweet 54 Tele and a 55 Goldtop if I can find a good deal they are coming down in price time to buy ..
I totally agree that the guitar is overprised but there are a lot of extras and modern features (like the action-adjusting neck) plus you get a unique piece handmade from a legend which will of course kick the price way high up. Again though 30000 is a little too high.
the price is absoluteley un-reasonable! I hope ken parker isnt planning on selling very many of these with a price like that. Srsly we are struggling artist not rich euro-types with money to spend like water. jeeeesh……
I agree. This is just silly.
Very interesting innovative design I dont suppose anyone knows where I can get one in nw england im willing to travel reasonable distances
It took you too long to start playing so I moved onto another review.
Meh prefer a dreadnought full bodied tone
Shoudn't the mic be placed closer to that weird soundhole?
@barbeq67 I like the head, you know what guitar it is immediately
very nice : )
I'll buy it if its very cheap online, since nobody likes it
So ugly my eyes hurt just by looking at it.
Gorgeous as heaven itself. Fantastic innovation and execution.
But it sounds horribly scrappy and tinny.
I bet a nice pick guard mounted neck pickup would save it.
I'd love to have it but I'll stick with my cheapo Yamaha
This dude rushes like crazy…..his sense of time is erratic…phrasing is not existant. Show people the instruments voice….
sounds like a lindsay buckingham kinda sounding git box
the Fly took from electrics, electrics come from archtops, this archtop takes from its own evolved electric sibbling.. doesnt make sense. I'll go read the specs.
ugly)))
I bought a Fly and it changed my whole way of thinking about music. Forever thanks Ken.
That guitar is a precision crafted piece of art. Most art doesn't have a utility function, but that doesn't stop people from owning it. Every time I listen to a review on an expensive guitar there's some jackass comment on the price.
I gotta disagree…archtop acoustics are designed to get a fatter sound and clearer high end. It's supposed to be smooth and warm, making it ideally suited to jazz. Has a heck of a lot to due with tone much more so than volume.
you need to take some guitar lessons and some composition lessons too, coz your song isn't impressive at all. I'd wait more from a so called senior editor lol
need one oh theese.. ;)….. ….
sounds amazing O.O
