The SE Kingfisher | PRS Guitars
The SE Kingfisher has a modern signature sound that will grab your attention. Dual humbucking pickups give sparkling top end with a high midrange growl to give the Kingfisher a personality that will cut through the mix while holding down the band with its sweet warm fundamental tone.
Designed in PRS’s Maryland shop, the Kingfisher’s offset Swamp Ash body and neck-through construction provide sustain and evenly balanced tone, while the figured maple veneer adds a touch of class. The 24 fret maple/walnut neck allows unlimited possibilities for your creativity and sonic palette, and the 34” scale length makes this an instantly comfortable bass for players old and new. Kingfisher (4B ‘H’) pickups are deep, thick-sounding humbuckers with plenty of top-end clarity and punch. These modern pickups have a distinct old-school tonal character that delivers that huge “clacky” tone missing from some modern basses.

Okay now we need precision style bass from PRS????
they should make core modele of those bass
The dummy coil bass… such a shame.
They need a 5 string .
I have PRS Kingfisher Red one. After having it set up to my liking. It Plays great. And the Slapp sounds great.
But I dont like the sound of the pick ups when playing songs not slap. Are there any replacement pick ups that fit in it?
they look very close to the size of a Musicman pick up style.
It's listed for 1,099€ here in Germany.
Pretty hefty price tag for a Made in Indonesia instrument.
Was first listet at 777€ in 2016.
Any difference to the previous models?
Slap sound somehow reminds me of a Warwick
My PRS Kingfisher is my number one 4 string bass. Everything about this bass guitar is awesome, except the pickups are not humbucking pickups. They are single coil pickups with a dummy coil. I replaced mine and I still have the ones I took off. Only one row of the magnets are active. The other row doesn't do anything, it is just there for looks.
I have no idea why a company like PRS would falsely claim these pickups to be humbuckers when they are single coil pickups designed to look like humbuckers. I traded my first Kingfisher in disgust, but bought a second and changed out the pickups , wiring, and pots. Now she rocks and is my favorite 4 string bass. But I feel misled by PRS and all the reviewers who have aided in their deception.
My bass is serial number CEO21584. I am not making any of this up.
Phenomenal instruments
I hope you add a new better looking shape or just change this entirely
Mine will be here tomorrow!
No pickup select? Odd.
I want black
I really wish this came as a 5-string too.
Almost bought a red bass like this awesome instrument
that is a nice sounding bass which I wouldn't mind having.
How much does it weigh?
Sounds great! Been looking for a passive version of the stingray. This might be the answer.
Low chants heard in background.
Five string, five string, five string…..
Six string, six string, six string….
Dang-, that's a good blue.
I don't even play bass and I want one.
Amazing Bass! I'd like to see a Fretless version.
I love PRS, but I wish they gave more love to the bass guitar. I'm thankful that you have 2 SE models, but only 1 color for each model? That's like the opposite of what PRS is known for, isn't it?
