  • Took me a second, "StingRay BEATS Fender". My first thought was, 'A stingray is a Fender'. ( if ya know, ya know.)

  • RATM first hearing.3rd year of high school. a school mate gave me his walkman between teacher change. i was hit by a big stone.loved forever

  • Made me happy that you ended with the Stomp solo …I still have the vinyl, and it made me want a Sting Ray from then on.
Have a few now and love my Sting Rays!

  • I have the Music Man StingRay “poor cousin" (lol) , the Sterling SUB Series (the prices of authentic StingRay in Brazil edges the absurd) – such a very cool bass guitar! I really enjoy the mid-high frequencies from MM, besides it’s a very versatile instrument. The only experience that I had with “Fender” basses was some years ago, when I played a Squier P Bass from a friend (also an amazing instrument). I think MM and Fender both are good brands , but each of them must be used in very specific situations – it’s a little bit dangerous comparing them in a simple way (lol) .

  • yeah!!!! "Psychadelic Sex Funk Live from Heaven" – I just found that VHS tape yesterday, while moving some old cardboard boxes with stuff from that era. And yes, this video made me a RHCp for life!! One piece of trivia (that probably has already been mentioned here – ) – Deacon was just trying to emulate Chic "Good Times" when he came with "Another One Bites the Dust" ;). And kudos for Fugazi! Cheers from Portugal.

  • Without even watching I'll just say it doesn't matter what bass you play it on. You can get the same results from almost any bass.

  • As the RATM Record came out I was 5 years old.
It has to be around 2004 when I first heard rage against the machine. I was late and most of my classmates couldn’t get their music. But Tim’s Playing was initial for me. It is still my foundation of playing the bass. As I took bass lessons a year later, my teacher was into Audioslave. I learned from him and Tim a lot about playing the instrument. But Tim brought me to Fender through the later Albums and I stayed.

  • OMG! Your reaction to the 1989 chilli peppers is exactly how I feel about it as well. So awesome.

  • You guys never fail to make me laugh, plus reveal interesting information. Lol

  • You guys need to step back and find an old Kay K20B (rick style) bass from the late 60s/early 70s….. Tried it against our Fender's, Thunderbird, actives and various others…. It's the punchiest, loudest thing I've ever heard.????

  • also I am biased who isn't but there is never any mention of Musicman Sabre and yet in recording at least it is played by most of the bassists listed here certainly Bernard Edwards, Tony Levin, Louis Johnson.. YES.. I even believe Louis helped Leo Fender design/test the Sabre. it is a versatile instrument Pre Ernie Ball 1977-79

  • brilliant.. I started to worry: no Bernard no Johnson.. but you kept the best till the end! still if you listen to good times there is no way it would ever sound like a P bass even modified.. but hey ho!! great guys !

  • MM Stingray was made for Louis Johnson request to create Bass guitar for a good slap playing and Louis Johnson is also MM Stingray design Co-creator…

  • "Nobody Weird Like Me" takes the cake. They brought it back on the last tour. Complete face melter

  • Finally Paul Denman got his credit! He has simple but solid basslines! Thx Scott and Ian 🙂

  • I feel like I’m getting Deja Vu with some of these songs being mentioned

  • Year 10 ive been asking for a video about robbie Shakespeare and that was before you invented bass tales:,( please

  • I listened to it in 5th grade shortly after my dad showed me the battle of Los Angeles

  • I think that slap solo in Stomp was the Sabre. And I believe Sledgehammer was a Sabre too according to Tony in that recent Beato interview.

  • I have a Stingray that sounds great, but I've never gotten it to sound like Ian's. Having said that, I've never tried maxing out the Bass and Treble EQ's. Maybe thats the ticket.

  • So glad that Paul Denman was on this list. He’s often overlooked but is a phenomenal bassist! ✌????
