  • I like that you vary styles to get a feel for how these amps sound. That, and this review of many amps is really helpful.

  • After looking at far too many reviews, trying far too many amps, losing far too much money along the way, something clicked in my brain and presto, I’ve entered Jazz sound Walhalla. I just connect the earphone output of my Fender Mustang Micro to a Sangean U4 (a fairly simple ‘builders’ radio) and that’s it. The versatility of the little Fender (amp modelling, effects) gives me plenty to experiment with and the (brilliant!) Sangean has totally acceptable sound for home use (not forgetting FM, DAB, blue tooth connectivity etc). And if necessary it all works on batteries if you want. And I’m fine without all the overhyped app-tweeking. So I’m not falling for the commercial traps set by amp manufacturers again.
Maybe I’ll change my mind when I start gigging, but that’s a highly unlikely scenario.

Would love to see someone showing this solution on youtube.

  • Man, I really dislike a scalloped fingerboard. It freaks me out kinda like those people who get phobia from looking at honeycomb holes photoshopped on people’s faces.

  • They all sound top-quality to me—as good as an expensive amp. It's down to the guitar player's technical skill and the software the mic is run through.

  • I just noticed, you never mentioned the much-vaunted Vox Pathfinder 15r. Have you ever played through one of them?

  • Worst amps ever mentioned in this video: Marshall and Fender…go figure! maybe having a name is not enough in the real world…

  • Elmo, your channel is clean.

I only tripped over your stuff a few days ago and you are so refreshing to My view because you actually explain why you have arrived at your point of view, and you also explain that sometimes it's OK to have split opinion.
Giving people the tools & reasoning how to form an opinion (as you do) is way more powerful that telling people what to think.

I'll be checking out more of your back catalogue bc you make sense.

I'd really enjoy if you made a series of your personal favourite guitarists (I know mine and it's not a fixed hard chiselled in granite list of fixed length, but My Top Man is ALWAYS Rory).
Maybe also if you made a series of your best tracks or breaks too, they may not be just your very fave guitaristas.

    Finally,
    Thank You Elmo

  • If I love the Roland Micro Cube (particularly the clean tone), but am having trouble finding one in good condition at a good price, what should I get? Or, put another way, what's the modern equivalent of Roland Micro Cube with a comparable clean tone?

  • I have to mention the Yamaha Thr30ii. Such a great sounding portable amp and it's so quiet with no background noise. Great harmonics and tones!

  • The problem with this list is it doesn’t take into consideration the people who are not paying 250 for an amp or doesn’t take in consideration the used market I got 2 practice amps for 150 combined 1 a vox vt30 and I got it for 50 bucks and it’s a hybrid amp and I got a boss katana 50 mk1 for 100 even at 150 bucks “what I usually see them sell at” it’s a great deal but the issue with the katana series is there’s no real repairs you can do is the electronics go bad they’ll just tell you to buy a whole new amp

  • I just think its weird that you say the Boss Katana Mini is good but the Boss Katana gen 3 that you reviewed was not good at all sounding plasticy?

  • The "harley benton" i have in the states its called the "stage right"…great amp for $200 is what paid..rarely ever play it on 15w but it can play with a drummer om 15w..its loud for so small..has a celesion speaker

  • I have the Tube 15, V5, and the Fly with the extension cab. Tube 15 can really crank. V5 is a bit muddy with him buckers but I have a cheap EQ pedal that I use on it. Fly is impressive for what it is also.

  • Black star sound like Marshall rejects how can anything beat the original and best rock amp ever made the 100watt Marshall head and cabinet it will look after you for decades on and off the road. And I know it’s not really a small practice amp but Ive used mine at home for years and it’s good because I actually practice in my bedroom and write songs on the amp I play live

  • apartment living for the first time and i can hear my upstairs neighbor breathing as i watch this. trying to be considerate lol

  • I have the spark mini and it is very portable and sounds nice..But it does not sound as good as the Harley Benton… I also own an Epiphone valve junior head and cab and that is ridiculously loud at only watts.. but only has one control knob which happens to be volume, thus making it very restricted. The Harley Benton tube 15 seems to blow it away in terms of tone… Which speaker would you recommend as a really good replacement for the chinese stock celestion in the Harley?

  • I couldn’t believe how good the Katana Mini sounded for its price and size when I bought one.

  • I just trusted the guy in the store and bought the one he recommended me. It's a Nu-X Mighty 20 mkII. I am a brand new beginner so I dont know if its a good one or not. Sounds fine to me. But they all sound fine to me lol.

  • VOX Mini 3 G2 Small, light weight, cute looking, packed with features, compression, multiple fx types, multiple amp models, sounds massive for its size, plus runs on batteries. Hands down the best pawn shop impulse buy I ever made, Awesome.

  • I still troll pawn shops, Craigslist, and reverb local listings for 80s and 90s peavey audition and backstage amps.

  • My eldest uses a fly for quick practice at home, also have one at the caravan for quick blasts

  • I miss my micro cube. Bought one after i had a cheap silvertone amp. Haha. Upgraded the Roland amp to a bigger size, discontinued model as well.

  • I have the Micro Cube and the Katana Mini, got them both used for not much money. Lovely little things, with lots of sound options.

  • I've used a Vox AD15VT as my practice amp forever. It can go from bedroom quiet to tiny venue volumes, sounds decent, is reasonably versatile, and you can get them for practically nothing. They're discontinued, but they're still everywhere.

  • Laney Mini STB, súper small and does well the job. Has a good 70,s Hard Rock type of sound. Has Delay and Bluetooth incorporated.
    Costs 80€
What can you get for that money!!!
    Give it a go

  • Thanks for the video. Please make a list of amps that is good for home practice as well as for small gigs?

  • Man, that Pulze sucks. Don't buy into the hype (almost all of the reviews are paid endorsements). I sold mine and use my Yamaha THR10 every day (I had the 30, but kept the 10. It's just as good, no wireless needed for me). That Pulze has literally NO bass. Don't be fooled. Thin as origami paper.
