Brain over Herb???
Thanks for this. I've been after learning some of these basslines for literally 30 years, I managed Toys and John the fisherman, but Tommy the cat and Jerry was a racecar driver are just too fast, and with the rest of the music behind it, I've never even been able to pick out the notes properly.
Steinberger
Ngl John the fisherman is a very physically demanding song to play on the bass. Les makes it look so easy. Best I can describe it.
Thanks for creating and sharing
Claypool is super talented but I feel like he plays too up front, like he sort of abandons the proper position of the bassist and it hurts the songs. I enjoy Geddy Lee a lot more. Geddy's sound cuts through just the right amount.
It almost sounds like you guys have tube screamers in your signal chain, but running only as a boost, the gain rolled all the way back to zero.
He didnt get the metallica gig because he was too good
Just think, Les actually came up with all this StuffIts one thing to be able to figure it out and play it, but an entire other universe to actually create these sounds and style out of thin air, as well as the stage persona to go with it. It’s truly amazing when you think about it.
I would have left out Southbound Packyderm too ????????
I think what convinced me in the end was listening to him play that riff from Hamburger Train for 8+ minutes straight
This is a great video, makes me wanna buy a bass and come back later
Les is the OG of progressive bass in metal. Noone like him before or since.
"Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production to weird to live to rare to die."
We could of had les and Dave in the same band ????
Your commentary is annoying as hell
This video is GOLD!
I was fortunate to see them a lot before they drew much of an audience.
Small bars in Berkeley and SF. First gig I saw was with a drummer called Curveball.
Next time they had Tim and opened with the first side of Rush’s 2112. Sick band.
Trump☕️
I am super happy that there were no trolls here. Less is an amazing musical talent. I hope someday he really gets the credit he deserves.
Les is one of those singers that i can't not do his voice when I'm singing along. Goofy but deadly talented.
How could you not plunge head first into Winona's Big Brown Beaver?
I feel the same about Bucket Head, Joey Satriani, Paul Gilbert, Syd Barrett, and many other for different reasons.
Lets here your guys "alien talent" people!
Edit: I would like to add, teachers and people like you who spread knowledge are also legends! ????
Primus SUCKS! If you know, you know.
I know nothing about playing the bass outside of what channels like this one, but how does Hamburger Train get left off the list?!?!
Is that dude wearing a glove?
Ok
Another Les fun fact, you can find him once a month at the Farmers Market in Sebastopol stalking the veggies and legumes
Looooove the Brain!????????
When it comes to music, Primus was my first love. I discovered them in 3rd grade back in 1996. My ears could not believe what weird, wild and wacky sounds I was hearing. Les is a legend.
