Today we are rounding up SamAsh.com’s 4 best selling 15″ bass combo amps under $400. Perfect for stage or studio, all of these amps are solid performers, but each unique its own way.
First up is the Hartke HD150. Like all of the HD series, the HD150 features Hartke’s HyDrive hybrid speaker design. The combo of the 15″ speaker and 1″ tweeter delivers a warm, round tone with plenty of low-end punch. With 150 watts of power, the HD150 is more than capable of holding down the stage in a medium-size venue while the convenient side handles and casters make for easy load-in and load-outs. Other features include a 7-band graphic EQ, electronically balanced direct output and a built-in limiter.
From Fender’s popular Rumble series comes the Rumble 200. This 200-watt performer has been re-engineered from the ground up and is now lighter and louder with plenty of classic Fender vibe. The combination of a 15″ Eminence speaker and defeatable compression tweeter serve up a powerful tone palette, making this an ideal amp for any gig. Featuring soft-touch control knobs, a foot switchable overdrive and an exclusive 3-button voicing system The Fender Rumble 200 lives up the Fender legacy in both sound and style.
The TC Electronic BG250-115 MKII may be ultra-portable, but it still houses all the things that make a great bass combo. It’s light yet powerful, features super versatile tone shaping tools and it has an onboard tuner specifically calibrated for bass guitar. TC Electronic’s TonePrint feature lets you customize your sound by loading in signature effects designed by leading bassists. The Class D amp delivers 250 watts of raw power to the 15″ custom driver and 1″ piezo tweeter, making the BG250-115 one of the loudest combos in it’s class.
The last amp in our roundup is the Ampeg BA-115v2. This 150-watt combo features Ampeg’s Ultra Hi/Lo tone controls that lets you fine-tune your sound from sweet and clear to tube-like grit and grind. A flexible cabinet design offers a true 60-degree monitor angle for maximum clarity and bass response. The 15″ high-output speaker and 1″ high frequency driver combine for classic Ampeg bass tone and the HF driver can be muted for a more vintage sound. The backlit, front facing controls offer easy access to all of the BA-115’s tone shaping and performance features including Ampeg’s new Bass Scrambler overdrive.

Good morning
I'm looking for a brand of amp to work at home with a neutral sound. I have a Hofner Violin for Beatles. What can you advise me ?
JUST….TALK?
Play the amps! If I wanted to hear the specs, I’d just read it online. SMH
Katana 110 bass could have the power of those amps? Opinión please?
No sound samples? Are you high?
sounds so silent
The bass player that I play with sounds fantastic with that Ampeg! And yeah… this video is old. But if someone like my bass player is still sounding good, at least by experience, it shows that the Ampeg still holds up.
I have a friend who has one of these BUT the power supply is burned, do you (or anyone) know where to buy a new power supply? Hope someone can help me…can't seem to find one.
Thanks for nothing
I'm choosing between Fender Rumble 200 and Hartke HD150. It's only for study and I'm ignoring the price difference. Which you guys prefer?
Need a 15-in cabinet with speaker for bass guitar
does any of you guys own one of these ams in this size ? i am in the market to pretty soon buy one and wondered if someone has used one of these gems in a basement setting can you be heard over the drums? that is a need i have with this sizeamp
No talking. Only playing. Don't review amps without playing them.
Dude listen to you guys…………it’s just a fast video to get you started……..a comparison video with all the different tones would be a long ass video. They are just letting us know what’s a good group in this range to compare, now go check out their videos, or maybe Sam Ash will decide to make an hour long video for us.
Keith, I just bought a Rumble 200, but I am sad it isn't a tube amp. Do you kno9w of a tube preamp device I can use between my bass guitar and the rumble 200?
I will never buy anything from Sam Ash because of this video alone.
Less talking, more playing!
I can’t hear the speaker OVER THE SALESMAN YAPPING.
Could we have actually heard them as well?
Jesus after 38 years I still play through an 82 Peavey
I have the Ampeg BA115 and I love it. I do solo performances and perform with my band Sympotico and that amp does the job and then some. Even with performing with a guitarist with a tube head and 4×12 cab and a drummer in my band I keep the volume no higher than 3 a 3 1/2 and it cuts through nicely.
Shows it blends very nicely as well and if need be for bigger gigs just go DI and you’ll have nice classic Ampeg tone right through the monitors.
I think I liked the TC the most. Great playing!
Lies Samash.com has a Fender Rumble 200 for $49, not under $400 and doesn't even list a Tc Electronic combo amp.
I hate Sam Ash and refuse to shop there. This video sucks.
>150w enough for medium sized venues
wat. you're lucky to get over a drum kit with that power
You had the opportunity to blow us out of the water with the sounds and the expert opinion and advice about these amps; not to mention that you could have a proper gear review youtube channel. But no, instead I get to hear a reading of the user manual by the local twat. Thank you Sam Ash. My never buying anything from you is completely your fault.
worst video on youtube award!!!
WTF no sound demo? Duh
Took a long time to learn very little? C- in my opinion? Cheers
Just a sales pitch, no demo.
I tried the BG250 115 and it was VERY disapointing. Hard to get lots of clean volume out of it. Besides power is rated loosely ("sounds like X watts" instead of real RMS power), so those 250W are more like hardly 100W. For the record (tested in same venue) a Peavey TKO -75 fills a room where the BG250 struggles (a TNT-150 simply puts it to out-of-this-world shame). The speaker is either farty or middy/boxy. This shootout missed THE greatest bang for the buck contender in this 15" combo range, the Peavey MAX 115.
What is the point of this shite?
