1935 Martin D-18 played by Billy Strings

Billy Strings came by the shop to lend his immense talent for some videos demonstrations. Here is Billy playing a loved but incredible 1935 Martin D-18.
Here’s some more info about this great pre war Martin. “Chicago folksinger Fred Holstein bought this guitar from a taxi driver in 1970. Recent repairs by Dave Musselwhite include neckset, refret, bridge plate saver, repair rim cracks, new bridge, new nut and new saddle. There is a previously repaired headstock crack, a patch in the lower treble rim, some finish over the pickwear. Huge sound. That bears repeating: Huge sound. In an Eastman fiberglass case.”

“Play Freebird!”
What song is he playing??
Bravissimo ????????????????????????????
What song is he playing?
Took me 2 weeks to teach him this.
He's not making the music, the music is making him.
Magnificent Billy! Loved the train in the background.
But did he buy it?
That is how a guitar is supposed to sound!
Billy heard that train and couldn't be happier!
Pretty fitting that a train came by, too bad it didn’t spark a train song
Some of the most pleasant acoustic playing ive heard
Feels so right to hear a train horn at 2:55
Jesus Christ the effortless control it’s masterful
One of the best guitars ever made in the hands of one of the best musicians ever made!
Am I the only one hearing hints of Elliot Smiths Miss Misery in here?
What song is he playing? It sounds amazing!
He looks like a young Angus Young.
I have a pre war 1940 D-18 one absolutely outstanding sounding guitar and loud as hell. You can’t beat the old pre war Martin mahogany dreadnoughts.
Anyone know the name of the song??
You put a capo on it?!
God damn man! Once in a lifetime talent right there. I don’t care how much you play guitar. You cannot teach that. That’s a gift from the universe.
this tune gives me hope in life… such beatiful song…❤
Now I understand why a Martin D18 is a big deal, and why Billy Strings is a big deal.
Who would have ever thought pieces of wood fitted together with some steel wires and a talented young man could make something this beautiful? Jesus, that's just amazing.
I caught my guitar watching this
We both had a cigarette afterwards ????
Best flat pickers in the country with a great attitude go billy
You should get Tim Henson or Scott on here!
Ahahah ????????
Some of the notes are from hammer on an pull off getting extra sounds with out even picking the strings. There is so much complexity in this
Im calling it now, Billy Strings is going down in history being the Elvis of Guitar Playing, he is way too amazing!
Billy strings is grossly unknown. Ive been following bro since like 2019, and he is absolutely incredible. Theres trash "artists with critical acclaim" and billy is on a whole nother level
I don't know…..the kids of today ????
I love to hear him play unplugged. I know that it is necessary, but amplified flat tops lose their exquisite character. He is amazing. His technique is impeccable. There is pure economy of movement.
