2 Simple Slap Bass Techniques That Will Make Your Grooves Sweeter

Visit: https://posidovega.com/
I’ll be posting more bass lessons like these in there. In this bass lesson, I’ve got 2 simple slap bass techniques that will make your grooves sweeter. Your slap bass lines will groove on their own (with or without a band). You’ll also be able to add new life to basic slap bass grooves that you already know on the bass guitar. Best of all, these slap techniques are fun to do.

The slap bass groove I play at the beginning of this lesson was inspired by Oteil Burbridge. Although Oteil’s bass playing is known for many things, his slap bass approach is worth checking out.

  • At about 2.03 you play 4 notes (i believe E – F# – A – B) and then you add the pops that indicate the 2 and 4 on a snare drum. So far so good. But then when you add the ghost notes you start to play a different groove. That's unhandy and makes it difficult to understand what it exactly is that you are doing. Why not make a video where you add the ghost notes to the groove you play on 2.03? It would be SO helpful!
