  • The Rickyisms you are throwing in there without even smirking is incredible. Also, first time watcher here, you're a great teacher.

  • The E flat is used very commonly by many bands from alt rock, hard rock to thrash metal. Look at GNR & Slayer for confirmation on this tuning.

  • I learned this song about 2 months ago specifically because it is an excellent exercise, and it's tons of fun.

  • Dude you’re playing with Mastodon! WTF that’s amazing. It’s crazy but your vibe seems to really fit their vibe –

  • I had no idea it started with an upstroke. Harder than I expected! Dime was a fire breathing monster of a soloist. If he wasn't, EVH wouldn't have put his prize guitar in his tomb. I feel like they tuned down a quarter step because ozzy did that, and it sounded good, then, why not? In a separate conspiracy theory, I think it was to make it harder for guitar hacks like myself to figure out the riffs, as I'm loathe to detune my guitars out of their comfort spot, especially if you have a floyd or other tremolo, so you have to fuckin tighten the springs and shit to make it float properly. I stand by my conspiracy theory. Not the other ones like chemtrails, that is all bullshit obviously.

  • Been I've been watching for years and I also love the newer format with the song breakdowns and technique takeaways.

  • Dude!! I'm so stoked for you for getting the Mastadon gig! So well deserved. I hope you get to be a full time member of the band! I can't think of anybody better than you for it.

  • I learned how to do the main riff in Cemetery Gates with the pinch harmonics back in the day – blew my bandmates away. Dime is my third favorite Texan guitar player, after SRV and Billy Gibbons.
