Thanks for this video, Peavey has been my Favorite Amp for years, I have Many, It is A Crying Shame when Hartley's Stupid Son took over and told the Very Loyal and Longtime employees that they have A Job We are Not going to China, Well He LIED to them, Laid them Off and went to China, A Heartbreaking story of A Great American Company.. One more thing, you Did Not mention the Mace Series, My Favorite one, Lynyrd Skynyrd used these
As a Brit I started on my Metal voyage in the early-mid 1980s with a Marshall JCM 800. Followed by a number of Marshalls. I used and borrowed a good number of Marshall amps and found that they were pretty rubbish and very inconsistent. When pushed I usually had a mushy cloudy sound. Then in 1988 I sold the lot and, after coming into a little money, I bought the Peavey VTM120 head and four 4×12. My love affair with Peavey began. Later I used a couple of Bravo 30w amps. Then a 3120 which was a great amp. In the pursuit of gain my current amp is the 6505+. This is the best amp I have had and used. It's just awesome. Once in a while I borrow amps from other makers, especially Marshall and I am always disappointed with how rubbish they are. I will never part with my 6505+, ever! Rock on Peavey!
Let me play it and it will break. I've owned 4 Peavey amps (3 brand new & 1 used model. I own one, now. Had to have it repaired, bought brand new) and every one of them broke in just a few days of playing them. Two, one new and one slightly used, broke within 3-days of purchase. I know and have heard of people who've owned them for years and never had an issue, but not me. In fact, there was a joke (I think they were joking) in one of my hometown music stores who sold Peavey when I walked through the door, "Don't let him touch anything that says 'Peavey' on it. It will break." I have nothing against Peavey (they make great & affordable gear); apparently, it is just me, but I have never had any trouble with other name-brand gear and I do not abuse my equipment. If I had need of another amp, I might would purchase another Peavey. I would certainly consider it.
I love peavey so much
I have an 80s pacer that I've owned since 92. The thing still works mint.
Played lots of gigs with many different Peavey amps and P.A.s. Just recently felt nostalgic and bought a Bandit 65.
I've owned way more than my fair share of amps, and I have to say the best bang for the buck is definitely Peavey.
Been in the music business as a player and a retailer for over fifty years. Peavey did some decent stuff that small bands could afford and was tough as nails. Their business practices through the years leave a lot to be desired, as I know of a few devoted dealers that they just shut off and left hanging. I guess, like all other American businesses, they are out for #1
Not all of this history is correct. The old Black face classic had 6l6 power tubes not el84's. The first classic was a hybrid tube solid state amp.
my peavey audition 110 dont even got inputs that work correctly, its missing the hex nuts and when i put knew ones on it become like 90% distorted
I've seen Peavey TNT 100 bass amps as early as 1974 and recently bought a '76 and it makes guitars sound huge! I also came across a 200W '76 PA-400 4-channel PA head that's a monstrous beast!
Just picked up a rage 158 and a special 212. Im excited to spend time with them
There was a guitarist in the 70s that was using a Peavey standard PA head with some pedals on front….
I used to play The Butcher in clubs late 80's early 90's. It lived up to it's name.
There is no 6534 without the plus. The 6534+ is a modified 6505+ … also the XXX II is facelifted JSX, the 3120 is a facelifted Triple XXX
Peavey amps put decent quality amps and PA systems into the price range of average players- and a few of them were soon to be classics. They should be commended for their 70s and 80s history.
Bur what about the Express 112? You know, the baby bandit.
I had a Bandit 75 back in the 80's. I was, and still am, more into the bluesy rock like Foghat, Savoy Brown, Johnny Winter and so on. I am 65 and retired and live in an apartment and right now I have a small Backstage. And for being so small, it packs a helluva punch. Have been a Peavey fan for 40 years.
Still have my SS trans tube. Still sounds like awesomeness
Peavey turned out a lot of junk , check out the festival series pa
My main amp is the 25 Watt Bravo 112 combo. I think it's one of the best Peavey designs.
current Bandits suck a@@ compared to the older red and silver stripe versions their tone and response is nothing like whatsoever
why doesn't Peavey recreate their old heads?
Just found your channel, it seems right up my alley. Rock on, my dad was a Peavey rep the first 20 years of my life. He presented the 5150 with James Brown and Hartley to Eddie at his house. You could say i was raised on Peavey.
