First up it’s important to understand that with this course we are installing a habit… The habit of picking up the guitar every single day to practice. Without a doubt, throughout your guitar career, this is the single most important piece of the puzzle and will make all the difference. Alongside that, a solid structure and focus in your daily practice is the next most important aspect to your improvement, and when you combine the two… Daily practice with a great course and structure, you simply cannot lose!

I am gaining a significant amount of guitar knowledge from your 30-day guitar challenge. Thank you for creating this helpful series for beginners like myself.
Thank you !
Hey Dan. I have an advanced understanding of the guitar I know Western music theory and i can see the scales, modes, octaves, etc on the fretboard, and i know how to build all chords possible, but when it actually comes to playing the guitar, I can't play the basic properly, the reason being is, I am looking for that perfect pattern of logic, i see a lot of 4s and 3s on the guitar, that will allow me to easily navigate the fretboard starting with f on the eh, this is step one, and then i need step two and then three, i.e. a simple pattern that gives every note its place in a system of perfect logic no matter where you are on the fret. Do you have any such full fret patterns then goes through the notes and then into chords etc?
Yesterday I made a breakthrough and memorized "on paper" all of the notes on the fretboard. I feel less lost now???? Today's lesson was reassuring because Dan played the electric guitar. In the previous videos I was not sure if I was strumming correctly because my Les Paul sounded different than Dan's acoustic. Since I am brand new to guitars, my best guess is that my LP has more sustain than Dan's acoustic. This may be obvious to everyone else but I didn't understand it at the time. I was changing all kinds of knobs on my LP and the amp trying to match my strumming sound with Dan's. I am not complaining at all because this whole new experience is a great learning opportunity for me. So hearing Dan strum on the electric today was so reassuring because it sounds more like what I am doing.
Thank you
i can't wait for tomorrows lesson 😀 thank you
????
What kind of drum roll are ya using?
I love your vídeos but I cant stand the noise of that marker. ????
I just completed day 9 of the 30 day challenge. I’m enjoying the course after not having picked up the guitar in over 30 years. In the lessons Danny refers to tabs, drum beats rhythms, and fret boards that can assist us while practicing. I can’t seem to find them anywhere on the home page. Are these only accessible when we join the YGA club or is there a way I can access them for free? I’m still not sure if I sign up for the monthly subscription. Thanks for your assistance.
I love this. I've always wanted to learn the guitar and have had a cheap amp and guitar being used as room decoration for years. I tried some other channels but they focused on learning songs and not the technique needed to develop properly. Great instruction, great pacing. Looking forward to the journey. I find myself sometimes watching the rugby on TV just doodling on the guitar doing the gym work. Thanks YGA !!
Hello! I have been following this course for the past 8 days and feel positive about the entire experience! Great videos. Have one doubt though. Once this is over, will i be able to find an intermediate guitar learning playlist on your website? I don't mind paying. The experience is worth the cost. Also the chalkboard dripping part was my favorite. It's great to have a little break in a class. Thanks! ^_^
Checking in on lesson 9…..Rhythm patterns ……. Soooo funny a Halloween version of a rhythm pattern ????.I’m finding with practice different elements of learning eventually integrate and falls into place……I enjoy watching your videos….. I like your voice and friendly approach……and I love your bringy bringy…brings ……Thank you????
Unfortunately your green marker still looks white on screen. Maybe a star under the one you want would be better.
I need to make sure is this the one for the song. I viewed up to lesson 15. You taught us 3 different strums. Am I correct? Trying to make sure if I am right, is this strum is one?
Thank you great lessons
Your awesome teacher.
Well man I got this new skill in this summer vacation cause of ya thanks a lottt
Great series, learning a lot. I started last year using the Mel Bay Grade 1 book and got through picking pretty well but starting on the chords was a struggle. This video series has been great in teaching me what I wasn't getting from the book.
What I find hilarious, though, is that it wasn't until today's video that I realized I was using the wrong fingers for playing. I was using index and middle fingers rather than middle and ring fingers. That's a lot different and harder than what I was doing, so now I need to spend a few days doing it "right" to get back into the groove.
Also, I've found that going from C maj. 7 to E minor is easier than going the other direction. I assume this will improve over time.
I've also noticed that I play "better" at 100bpm than the slower rhythms. I suspect that is because I watch nearly every YT video at double speed so when I'm watching and practicing, the beat I hear is twice as fast. 🙂
what's the model of that Ibanez guitar?
I got an Ibanez RGA guitar 9 days ago because I wanted to learn how to play metal, which – probably is at least a few years off. That said, you guys make it extremely easy. I can't believe the quality of this, or the fact that it's free. Unbelievably good. I struggle with attention due to some ADHD, but these 10-25 minute chunks are just perfect. Keep it up guys! 🙂
The show must go on
I just started watching your videos last night but so far I am pleased. I am up to video seven
Thank you
rhythm has always been a struggle for me but these two starting rhythm patterns are really odd to play. do any songs use these?
Also the upstroke with the pic? Its like my strings are fighting me on the way up. Any suggestions?
I am really struggling with the strumming patterns. I mix them up in my hand like a bad spasm. I am trying to think of the full count 1 + 2 + 3 + 4 +, but I keep screwing up trying to put the pic on the strings for the strums needed. It feels so akward. Sigh…Any suggestions besides just keep practicing.
Can see from the likes and comments that people are dropping off. Practice is the only way and these are simply the best online lessons, and they are free!
Thank you so much
Nycc
Begun to play around with different strumming patterns variations. My beat-keeping is sorely out of practice, but strumming with a pick has gotten much easier!
Cool,I really like your presentation concept))and please tell me the model of the guitar?
You are the best beginner guitar instructor on the internet. Keep up the great work????????????
I watch each vid to get inspiration for the lessons I give to my niece and I find yours so good, so interesting ! Thanks again????????????????????
