This Mixing Trick Saved My DAWless Album // SP404 MK2 Mix Workflow
I love making music on the SP404 MK2, but when it came time to mix my album, I ran into a huge problem. Since everything was played live, I only had a stereo 2-track—no stems, no easy way to change things. But then I found a trick that completely changed how I approach mixing DAWless tracks… Let’s talk about it and some ways to mix while sampling in the SP

Soon as I seen dawless and 404 ????
This is the way!
I find mixing in the 404 super hard, there seems to be a gain stage before the volume I haven't figured out.
My new way is gonna be using the MPC with the SP. Akai has fixed the MPC for me to where I like it.
My issue with the SP is when I send tracks out via usbc (direct recording) it sends mono out for everything. When I export stems Multipad it’s all stereo. I don’t get it. I wish they would let me tell them which tracks are mono vs stereo.
How do you finish your tracks, Dawless jamming, stems into the DAW or something else? Let me know below ⬇
Check out the album I used this method on here: sunwarper.bandcamp.com
Edit: I forgot to mention, there is a way to export multipad stems from patterns to the SD card, but I find this workflow a bit more immediate and jam-friendly if you're making a beat.
