  • David, I really appreciate the music theory you toss out along the way, especially when naming the notes with the scale tones as numbers, Root, b3, 5, 9, so on and so forth. The beauty of this is the "Key of the moment" concept, where one can play the lick in any key just by following the trail of "sonic breadcrumbs" you've laid down. You speak about this towards the end of the clip – another great lesson from the master hisself!

  • I'm a sax player.. Recently discovered jimmy forrest then tripped on this video.. Jimmy played lines which were flavorful and for the entry level jazz guy is a great kick stay into jazz imho.. You are by far one of the best teachers I've seen on the tube, dude. Keep up the excellent work, man.
