Here’s a REALLY flexible Marshall in the Helix – the 2203 – it’s a 50w JCM800 – but crucially has the Low and High Inputs, making it VERY versatile.

  • Honestly, your playing sounds the same through all of the models that you say are "the best amp in the Helix", and you've claimed many are the best.

  • Great playing. The cleans on this are surprisingly beautiful. Will have a good look at this amp on the stomp. Sounds incredibly versatile

  • Downloaded this preset, and it's just fantastic. And then there's the tutorial of this video to help tweak it for my Tele. After hearing how some of the parameters interacted on the video, I knew just where to go and what to do to dial my Tele in. Thank you so much for sharing your great expertise and content.

  • Hey John…when purchasing this preset…how do avoiding stacking the other presets packages I’ve already purchased from you ? Just to avoid redundant presets.

  • I’m new to the helix and was very disappointed with the Marshall tones but now thanks to you making this I’m going to give it another go. This sounds amazing!

  • The 2203 is the best modelled Marshall amp in the helix thus far, imo. Line 6 is getting better and better, I hope they come out with the Silver Jubilee next!

  • Really gutted i bought the podgo and not the stomp purely because of this model. I hope it gets added in an update as this is by far the best marshall model line 6 have done.

  • Thanks for this. Possibly my favorite amp in the Eleven Rack (and the one that still has me going back to it) is their JCM800. It surprised me that I ended up favoring it, because I am not at all a metal fan, and also not much into hard rock. I like edge-of-breakup electric tones, and that amp just works really well with my Yamaha SA 1100 semi-hollow-body for that. I'll have to check out this amp on HX to see if I can finally duplicate my favorite Eleven Rack tone on HX. —Tom

  • I just traded my Blackstar HT5 mkii for a Blackstar Studio 10 EL34, even with the stock 70/80 it’s surprisingly good. Have you ever tried one?

  • The pentatonic run at the end was fascinating and reminded me of something i heard from Martin Miller. Could you possibly made a video about it?

  • For similar results, I love the Line6 Mod 2204, particularly for its pre-mid frequency parameter. A slightly gainier proposition (moreso than an actual JCM800 supposedly) but definitely worthy of note

  • For me, the BrownGD Preset, which uses the Placater Dirty Amp, which is based on a Friedman BE100, which was designed as a clone of a 1968 Marshall "Plexi" Super Lead circuit with a "variac" a tone inspired by the 1980s sound of EVH, is a fire-breathing monster, and I absolutely love it. I use it on a single Pickup Strat, with a Seymour Duncan "Seymourizer-7" in the Bridge location, and it sounds absolutely glorious. Addictive, inspiring, and transformative to play. It's like I can play anything easily on that Preset.

  • Can’t really find a 2203 in the pod go! What would you use there as an alternative to get the same sound?

  • My go-to amp now in the Helix for distorted sounds along with the Deluxe Reverb for cleans/light gain.

  • The 2203 is good, but I prefer the Line 6 2204 Mod. Anyway, good tones. An SD1 in front gives it a bit of warmth that compensates for the fizz at high gain settings.

  • Why doesn’t line 6 fix their drive models? Everything in helix seems to
Have a serious lack of low end which is essential for feel imo

  • My experience with most digital marshal stuff is that I'm always fighting how much gain it's putting out. This does seem to do a better job of it then usual. Maybe still a bit too much distortion for what i do most of time.

  • As a Marshall player for decades, I can say that Marshall didn’t really get pigeonholed as a metal amp until the 90s. Even then, that idea was only the result of marketing and what the players of the era were doing. The older Marshall amps were all used on blues and classic rock stuff which wasn’t heavy and required plenty of dynamic response. The JCM 800, long revered for its metal tones always offered some great cleaner tones. The DSL has good milder tones, as do several other models. The Helix actually has a great selection of Marshall amps. The Line 6 version of the JTM is a favorite of mine.
