#uaudio #twonotes
I revisit my comparison of the Captor X and the OX Box after owning and tweaking both for over a year. My original video included all the specs and details so make sure to check it out (link below). This time I want to show you my BEST TONES I can get out of both units.

** Why the ANZEIGE (=Ad) message? **
According to german laws everyone has to mark their videos as advertisements as soon as there’s a single “subject relevant” product, tag or link in it. Even if you didn’t get paid for making that video. Sounds confusing and it really doesn’t help the viewer to see which is a paid review and which isn’t.
— The line of truth: Is this actually a paid review? No it isn’t but some of the gear I’m using were sent to me by the brand to make videos with them. (I update this line for every video).

  • Thanks a lot for sharing your experience.

Have you heard something about UA withdrawing support for OX BOX, because this type of information is starting to appear on the Internet in videos

about OX BOX, on online forums. I don't even know what it would mean – if I buy an OX BOX, because I intend to, what then? I won't be able to repair

it in the future or something else? This information worries me and discourages me from purchasing it because the equipment is not cheap.

I'm planning to buy this device for amateur playing at home. I have a Fender Supersonic 22 Combo and a Helix Floor. I would like to combine these

together. Is there any additional device needed to use the above-mentioned devices to record guitar on PC? Or maybe in your opinion there is something

better than OX BOX now? Thank you in advance for any information.

  • Dude, can you tell me exactly what model, colour choices and pickups that PJD is? I LOVE it.

  • I’ve got the Captor X as well, I noticed out of all the selections of cabs to choose from the best sounding one always seems to be the Two Notes cab, either the 2×12 or 4×12. Coincidence? I doubt it? But a good piece of hardware none the less

  • I am in the market for a reactive load box, moving away from modeling. Have had a tordepo live years ago, wasn’t blown away but the captor x sound good and the features a nice. By the way, the tones and playing are amazing, this is how a demo should be done. Subscribed.

  • I love the OX…. Best spent money besides my Les Paul and my Plexi… saying this – the UA Sound City Studio Plugin does equally magical things to the DynIRs from Two Notes… also give that a try guys – it’s fantastic

  • I got nervous in the blind test because the first one sounds so much better and I just bought an OX Box. Whew!

  • Sounds very thin no body. (Guitar) I have both as well. Although playing through the Friedman JEL-20 and Soldano Astro 20 both amps sound much better through the Captor X & OX Box. Thank you for your demo. I also realize this video is a couple of years old. ✌

  • Hi, do you have any idea what the difference is between the waza tube and the ox box? thanks

    Reply
  • For me, based on what I hear in the video, I must say. The Ox sounds better on it's own, and the Captor X probably sounds better in a mix. But in real life, I guess it won't matter.

  • Ox box has very wide stereo image compared to Captor x. Is this allways on feature or can you adjust stereo image? Little annoying

  • Thanks so much for the unbiased comparison. Your playing is very nice… Sonically, both of these units had attributes that were a cut above-no pun intended,????. My impression of the Captor X was that it shined in the crunchy tones above the OX Box-but the Ox Box really shined above the Captor X in the cleaner tones, possibly due to the nuances of it’s preloaded effects. My studio headphones made the tone differences seem wider, allowing the Ox Box to have the all around edge in tonal quality. Without putting a solo track from each device to a mix it’s really close, but I would personally spend the extra cash and get the Ox Box, hence the term “buy once cry once.” ☮

  • Way better demo than Rhett Shull's shoot out with the same units (you're a better guitar player too), lol, but thanks again

  • Just got the Captor X two days ago, I can't pretend to say I really know it yet but I am impressed with what I hear so far, My Revv Dynamis and Hovercraft amps have efeects loops but my Deluxe and Princeton amps don't, they are the ones that benefit most from the load box ATM.
thanks for the video and info man!

  • I was unfortunately 98% sure the first was Oxbox. I was really hoping to like the Captor and save the money but I guess I’ll hold out for the Oxbox.

  • Dont forget..the OX is 3x the price..but..thats not really true..because you need 3 captors to do the same..16, 8 or 4 ohm.

  • Great video, great sounds. It is very attractive to have all these features for shaping sounds. But in real life i place two mics and in two minutes i have sound that is more pleasant and sits somehow better in the mix…well, to my ears

  • I feel really stupid here but what is an "AUDIO INTERFACE" and how do you guys plug your guitars into your windows computers. I'm way behind the times sorry. Our drummer use to record our stuff with pro-tools software. THAT'S ALL I REMEMBER!

  • The People at U.A also made a great decision in how it looks. I see the OX and say this is something I can work with, it looks analog. Plugs into your Amp. Then there's a whole wack of shit I see out there and I'm like nah, tube into cab, gigs? let the sound guy at the club deal with all that tech shit

  • Kris, excellent review thank you. Have you compared Ox/Captor to Helix LT/Kemper etc ? specifically the quality of recorded sound.

    Reply
  • The Ox is plus 10-20% better then then the Captor and it's worth every dime because if you want the best and the real deal you have to pay more money. That's life.

    Reply
  • I don’t think many would argue the Ox is inferior to any other similar products but it’s definitely a valid argument if it’s “better” and even more so worth being 2-3 times as much as it’s competitors. There’s just no reason the OxBox should cost 2-3 times as much IMO of the others. I have the SuhrIR and in comparisons I’ve seen it sounds better.

  • Still thinking about getting the ox box. Yes I do have a use for one, but don’t need one.

  • cables convertors preamps mics etc etc it all adds up micro percents, but the end game as in life is clarity, better tone if you hear the details right, the 2 notes always had a brighter top its like blackstar amps not so solid mids but a nice sprinkle of hi fi sheen , some like it more with age as we lose the top end, i find get an aby and blend a cheap model with a tube amp as its always searching for elements within the sound, some care some dont but if you record and mix you soon learn one mic isnt enough

  • Bruh! Great video.
I am not a tone snob but I do find that software latency is a bummer.
I own the CX-16 and I LOVE the option of using several amps with headphones or attenuated (through several cabs) as I like.
    I find 2 problems:
The first is that many players are accustomed to their cab in the room but not necessarily miced- this can be a psychological hangup. The twonote cabs are very good and I try to use MINIMUM eq (but I love the noise reduction!)
    The second problem:
The attenuator really sucks. Neither level is usable AND the quality of the sound is poor (sounds processed…blech!)
PLEASE TWO NOTES- design a firmware update for the attenuator.
    Happy new year!????????
