How to Use the Fender Jazzmaster | Alamo Music Tone Profile
Cooper Greenberg is back to demystify and showcase the many tonal capabilities of Fender’s legendary offset guitar, the Jazzmaster. Using the Fender American Original ’60’s Jazzmaster in Ocean Turquoise, Cooper explains the often misrepresented rhythm section, discusses each pickup selection, and highlights the genre-bending versatility of the instrument. From Chris Stapleton to Nels Cline, Kevin Shields to Elvis Costello, the Jazzmaster has long been a canvas on which unique artists can paint hybrid tones of country, grunge, hard rock, blues, and of course, jazz. As is with our other tone profiles, Cooper is playing this guitar through a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe with a Mogami Gold cable.

The best Fender guitar ever made, for me.
Beautiful sound and playing in video.
????
Great player.
Not related to greg Koch by any chance? ????
Man…pretty cool
I had to go and listen to Wilco's Impossible Germany. Beautiful Jazzmaster, beautiful sound.
Mark Mask: "but you think you could never learn to do that"
Like others have said, finally a good showing of the tone of a jazzmaster by a true player. Only video I've found where I understand what a JM sounds like. Thank you sir
I know somebody that has one sitting in the closet and I am trying to pry it from them, needs some work new frets and need some electronic work also, 1962 Jazzmaster I offered them $1000 but they smiled and said more money. So, I said I get back with them and they called said they had the original case also. I looked it when I got home on the 2025 Buyer guide listed at $20,000-25,000 I don't want to steel it from them, old people. what should I pay without tearing the guitar apart to be sure it what they say it is. It looks very old.
Dan (Gryffin) uses a Jazzmaster in his live shows now. He had a Gibson gold top with P90s and a Black Les Paul.
Love to stay focused on the back of the picking hand while the guitarist is absolutely shredding. Wow, big pickups!
man i love the sound of this guitar…just need to figure how to sneak one into my current line up.
My favorite YT guitarist with 2 last names.. Nice video. As a stray guy I have always been intrigued by this model. Seems highly versatile like everything Leo put to blueprint.. Love that color.
Why does that lead playing at around 08:13 reminds me of late Beatles guitar solos?
It’s refreshing to hear the Jazzmaster, any artists out there we can listen to that use the Jazzmaster in a way where you hear the whole profile of the guitar all the time ?
Bro probably saw me jamin on snap Chat with my jazz master suckin asss
Can you pleasr tell what the difference is between the jazzmaster american pro an the american vintage?
beautiful hair
Why would you demo and review the Jazzmaster without even fitting and using the tremolo arm??
Hey cooper, whats your go to pickup height for your jazzmasters?
Man I wish I could see this guy’s fingers to see what he’s playing.
I have this sudden urge to learn hybrid picking ❤
Cooper, great video. I have a 65 original same color as the one in the video that I've owned since I was 16 (75 now). It's still a great guitar.
Are you kidding me! DAMN that tone is ridiculous, really surprised just how amazing that sounded, I’m sold…????❤
i've been trying to find all the videos i can of Cooper playing. i have been doing things to guitar for 30 years (i won't call it "playing" lol) and Cooper is an EXCEPTIONAL guitar player. one of the best i've ever heard, no b*llshit. he is a sheer pleasure to listen to. it's like my ears have fallen head over heels in love.
1:47 to skip yammer! ????
Dan Hamilton was an outstanding guitarist from Los Angeles, playing soft rock and various other genres in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. He consistently used his 60s Fender Jazzmaster, creating a fantastic sound with impressive skill.
The guitar sounds great, a pretty thing…but in your hands it´s a bomb. You are a master man.
The problem with all these (probably hundreds of thousands) comparisons of guitars and comparisons of settings within one guitar is that they play different things when they change the settings. ????♂️
Well, yeah, dude. It does sound different… BECAUSE YOU'RE PLAYING DIFFERENTLY!
Thought the presentation was very good. I have a 1961 Jassmaster that I bought new in 61. My only regret is that I didn't keep playing it on a regular basis and today my fingers just can't seem to do what I want them to do. Sucks to get old.
