  • John entwistle is the greatest bass guitar player of all time. the who is the greatest rock band ever ever. each one of them were the best at what they did in the band. Pete Townshend is a musical genius

  • One of my favorite quotes: "If Keith Moon's drumming was the crime, Entwistle's bass was the getaway car."

  • I picked up John's Secrets of ROTOSOUND Roundwounds, using more treble, through a HIWATT 200 Bass Amp
and SUNN amps, Using Fender P-Bass, Jazz Bass, way back in 1969. So i had this sound before Chris Squire had
it, and Geddie Lee had it and i still have it. Bass players like Greg Lake also. Could never afford the Alembic Bass
and Amps but you get the same sound from the original setup.

  • I've seen the isolated "Ox Cam" in it's entirely and honestly to goodness, he's playing such a wicked bass line but his expression looks like he is thinking whether to have fried chicken or steak after the show.

  • The Who was the most musically talented band of the first wave of the British Invasion. That's not saying I didn't like the other bands' music. And that they weren't good musicians. They just weren't on the level of playing ability as Townsend, Entwhistle and Moon all assembled all in one band.

  • Il più grande bassista della storia del rock…la sessione ritmica degli Who non ha eguali, soprattutto live.

  • very cool video. JE was incredible. In their prime, they were special.

  • Peter Townshend was very disrespectful to departed band mates John Entwistle and drummer Keith Moon after they had died. Townshend said "thank God they’re gone“ "Because they were fucking difficult to play with." I lost all respect for Peter Townshend after hearing those comments.

  • Crazy to think each member of The Who is considered one the best ever for their respective instruments (including singing).

  • I forgot who said this – it might have been Eric Clapton – “John Entwistle is to the rock bass what Jimi Hendrix is to rock guitar”.

  • Looks like he's playing four fingers, not three. Sometimes he liked to use his thumb depending on the sound he wanted to get.

  • He didn’t just use round wound strings, he conceived round wound strings and got Roto Sound to engineer and produce them. He invented round wound strings.

  • Growing up in the 60's and 70's, our crappy stereos could never convey the incredible amount of notes and chords John was playing. All you could sense is that there was all this sound, and a plinky guitar part mixed into it. You could play great rock and roll back then without any guitars at all, but all must have bass.
