MUSE’S MYSTERY BASS RIG ????????????♂️
lol. Nailing Chris Wolstenholme’s bass tone is definitely still a bit of a mystery to us, but it’s fun to try. XD
Anybody got any insights on his mystery rig? ????

Guys what is the song in the beginning??
Split your signal one to a low end bass amp and the other to Marshal or other guitar combo for just the high end.
This track definitely sounds like a vintage SVT 810 combo and a clean DI with chorus added in post.
its definitely got a big muff
Let's all make up reasons why we're not as good playing bass.
He used Marshall dbs in the past and I went and got my self one years ago
Great cabs
Horrible heads
Scott: “yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah “
Super insightful ?
the bassbros are gooood!
It also helps that he plays status bases, which for those who don’t know our 3 to 5 grand worth every penny, and sound absolutely incredible
Like Les Claypool.
3… on.. E..!
What Muse song was that at the beginning?
Now I see why muse said they are influenced by Primus(I never really dig into muse there might some other examples, but what I see at the beginning is pure les Claypool playing style
How do I find what video this short is from?
Muse are so basic!!!
Shitty mainstream!
Try listening to Alan parsons project, victor Wooten, the Dave weckl band, Marcus miller, bootsy Collins, Larry Graham, the list goes on!
Muse are a second hand band that filled the gap in the mainstream and I just don’t see the appeal!
There’s no real genius going on let’s be honest.. ????????♂️????????????
I played on the same bill as Muse a few times back in 98. His set up was interesting even back then.
He’s used Kempers! Or he was a few years ago he told me in Manchester ????
Nobody cares
Became friends with Prakash John
What is that Sauce!?! Franks with butter?
That sounds like the H.B.E. Hematoma Bass Overdrive/Preamp, same bass gritty clean sound as Undisclosed Desires
you should try learning djobi djoba by the gipsy kings the bass is awesome.
song?
WOLSTENHOLME ARMY UNITE
Long ago I read that he was running two Big Muffs (different versions) for Hysteria etc.
Muse are so overrated it’s unreal!
Sounds like Billy Gould tone, “We Care A Lot”
Nowadays I imagine Chris's bass rig to contain IRs in a Kemper (or any other IR platform) of all the great sounds that he wants and needs without needing to schlepp around all the cool toys that he has and needs for his sound… Besides, they cannot die on the road of they are not on the road ????
Ian I feel like is the alternative universe version of Scott yet they still both ended up playing bass because their love for bass goes beyond alternate timelines
I think I remember reading somewhere that especially for Absolution and Black Holes there are a lot of synths blended in, especially (near) sine waves for octave downs.
What song is this tho
20 watt Peavy 1 12 in speaker
Muse are great like that.. There's was a mad fuzz channel comming out of Matt's rig that according to Chris Lord-Alge… 'we don't know where that comes from'.
I think he has a markbass amp rig, most often keeping one clean, has big muff on one, and animato distortion on the third, but has different pedal boards/ loops going to different combinations of amps at different times.
"The soup is dry." Underrated Gordon meme.
Queen?
I need a 410 rig
Check out highly suspects bass tone, especially in “my name is human”
Great tone I agree. I can get very close this tone out of my GK Fusion 1200 straight in without fx… should imagine the smaller 800 and 500 would produce the same for less £ pain though too. It’s an amazing amp I’ve got to say.
Chris Wolstenholme is so underrated..came up with so many awesome rift… I love Muse
That tone is fantastic
