  • I'm only 7 or 8 minutes in and I haven't heard Ronnie Baker's name yet. It would be criminal if Ronnie Baker isn't mentioned. Talk about disco baselines. Just his lines from the Spinners and OJay's alone should have him at the top of the list.

  • Disco – four years? Ha ha, getoutahere. Go back a few more years! But talking about 1977, check out the bassline on Roy Ayers's 'Running Away' or for 1978 try Cameo's 'It's Serious'. Feel the funk y'all!

  • Thank you guys! You are really great. Hands down for providing so much fun. Only possible because you love what you are doing and are great musicians. I have lots of fun as a drummer, but sometimes I feel frustrated for not playing the bass.

  • Bernard Edwards' baselines are just sublime. They bring tears to my eyes, I admire his work so much. What he plays is just disgustingly great, without the need to be flashy. He's one of my all time bass heroes.

  • Thanks, guys you are a treasure .. for me dance music is the premo premo .. from ballet to disco .. honestly, man Chuck Berry's rock n' Roll and Mersey beat .. dance music .. is for the people and not about the singer or the words .. which can be great .. but it's happy joyful .. uther bliss .. yes Disco .. is so much more than obvivous .. superficiality.. and yes there was a lot of that .. Morris Gibb created Stay n' alive .. wow .. top 5 of all basslines .. I put Billie Genie . in there

  • Fantastic, lads! And – in terms of disco played on a Rick and with a pick – check out Jim Gregory on The Andrea True Connection's "More, More, More". His playing on the bridge alone – so memorably sampled by Len for "Steal My Sunshine" – is legendary and worthy of worship.
