  • The tweed blues brt is my favorite. I have a '59 Bassman Reissue, and it sounds very close. My settings are 1.7 on the drive, 10.0 on the bass, 6.0 on the mid, 6.6 on the treble, 2.9 on the presence, and 6.2 on the channel volume. I also had to reduce the sag to 3.0 and set the bias to 7.3.

  • Thanks John. What a step up from Helix with 3.80. I'm a lifelong 6L6 lover and with the super reverb can finally use a fender amp in my chain without a ton of attenuation. I gigged 3 new Super Vibe patches last weekend and it was magical.

  • This is now my go to amp. Thank you! I would have never thought to look on the bass section.

  • Perhaps not very important, but for the record Randall Smith (founder of Mesa Boogie) started out modding Fender Princetons, not Bassmans. See e.g. five watt world's "Mesa Boogie: The Short History featuring John Cordy and Fluff" – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBMytvdPFQM.
Maybe Cordy didn't watch Keith's video, even though he is featured in it?? ????

  • Apologies if I missed this bit, but what DELAY and REVERB was used? (the sound was amazing!)

  • I doubled that rig into two parallel ones on my Helix LT and panned one side to the left 75% and one to the right 75%. It sounds has plenty of separation and L/R delay bounce with my Halo and BigskyMX on the end of it before my FR speakers and monitors. Thanks!

  • This model cleans up nicely if you take the master volume down as well (less power section saturation), and you can make up volume with Channel Volume as well.

  • In which folder is this preset located? I can't find "BetterFenderTone" nor can i find "JC B Assman" in the JC Lead Patches folder. Can someone help me, please?

  • My favourite amp in the HX world is the Ventoux because of the cross between Fender and Orange.
L6 Originals rule, in my opinion.

  • I happened to have been playing my HX Stomp while I was watching the Andertons video called "Chappers Guesses Iconic Amps? – Blindfold Challenge".

I decided to pull up the respective Amp Presets on the HX Stomp, and was surprised how closely they behaved and sounded like the Amps in the video. It gave me a deeper appreciation at how well the Amps were modeled by Line 6. My current favorite Amp in the HX Stomp is the BrownGD. It sounds fantastic on my modded Strat Bridge Humbucker.

  • My question is, why does this sound amazing through AirPods, but terrible in my studio headphones when I try with Helix?!?

  • Thanks for showing this. I love this amp. I was going to ask you though what your delay and reverb were. They sound amazing.

  • I use the Bassman into a dual CaliV30. Sounds good sort of Fender-y clean. I push it with a compressor and the SD-1 in front for a nice lovely warm overdrive with a stringy metallic touch. One of my favourite presets.

  • The mark of a great player is hearing their playing and instantly knowing who it is that’s playing.

Mr Cordy, I think you’re up there with other greats. You have a unique and signature playing style. It’s fantastic.

  • The tweed bassman became my favorite a few days ago. The solid harmonic mids in tweed amps makes me so happy. A mild boost sounds sooo good.

  • Or you could say "the only usable clean amp in the helix"…… tbh it wouldn't be a lie. At most an exaggeration. And even then… Helix is getting older and older with each week. The amp models sound like old and they were never very good to begin with. Fractal is lightyears ahead. I'm an Helix user, the gear is just outdated for amp simulations.

  • Ever since it came out, it's been the only amp I've been using for cleans, with a boost for a little bit of hair if needed, and the King Of Tone sim for drive. Sounds ace!
