Small Pedals Big Sound

Today I am showing you that size of pedal does not have anything to do with size of tone. Size of pedal ≠ Size of tone. Pedal size ≠ Tone size. I prove it as I show you some of my favorite small pedals. In the comments below let me know your thoughts about Salad Days and any music that is new to you even if it’s old to the world.

  • With modern smds, it makes for much smaller circuit boards. The smaller boards can sound the same if the components have the same values.

Boss compact pedals seemed small in 1977, but now they are just unnecessarily big IMO.

  • Fun tip for high-gain players… Put a Nobels ODR1 in front of your favorite TS808/TS9/SD1… Level all the way up, Gain on zero, Spectrum up just a bit to between 2 and 3… Blend your level on your main OD to taste and find that sweetspot…. Its all about whatever that magic is in the Spectrum that is absolutely fantastic for pushing the front of a dirty amp.

  • Small pedals? Oh you mean like the danelectro mini series?
Like the video you are going to make where you demo all the pedals in the danelectro mini series?

  • We need you to make a combo pedal with the whitey tighty and dirty it up with distortion. Call it "skid mark"

  • Surely a boost pedal without a switch is redundant? Turning your amp up is what you’d do for a boost that’s permanently on. A boost pedal give you the edge in solos.

I’m not trying to sound like a dick but what’s the point of a pedal that you can’t turn on and off?

  • And just wanna say I like my Prestige boost and my son is all about his Mini Footfuzz. Great pedals! ❤

  • For once I must super disagree with you Josh. You SHOULD always have an on/off for a booster. I think it’s a great thing for taking whatever sound you have (clean, dirt or whatever) and getting it just a bit louder for solos, certain parts, etc. I get that it can be part of your main tone but think the real joy is using it as a …boost.

Also I am reviewing mini pedals for a nano board config and forgot you did this roundup. ???? Happy to watch it again! ????

  • There was a high-school shooter (cant remember his name), during his interigation he said he was listening to Salad days in his ipod while shooting up the school. Just a little snippet of trivia.

  • Mini pedals are so cool. I’m definitely going to build a mini pedal board soon and this video’s super helpful for some starting places!
