The Magic of Simplicio | 1927 with Tornavoz | Classical Guitar Review | GuitarCollection.com

This 1927 Francisco Simplicio is one of the most extraordinary historical guitars I’ve had the chance to present. With its ornate detailing, hand-carved scroll headstock overlaid in gold foil, and original Brazilian rosewood tornavoz, this instrument is a rare glimpse into the golden era of Spanish guitar making. As it approaches its 100th birthday, it still sings with incredible warmth, resonance, and lyrical beauty.

Once you hear it, you’ll understand why Simplicios are so deeply treasured by collectors and players alike.

  • As a keen hobby luthier I frequently dip into your videos to listen to the quality of the sounds demonstrated on these wonderful guitars and I aspire to create something similar when I construct one. However, I have to say that the beauty and sound quality of the Simplicio, after nearly one hundred years, amazed and thrilled me. Absolutely astonishing and beautiful. Thanks you for demonstrating, I’m off to research to origins of the Simplicio sound.

  • There are modern guitar makers who use tornavoz but they don't come close to that sound. This guitar is amazing because the maker was a genius.

  • Evan you knocked it out of the park with this one, dude. Nice Castilian lisp on Barcelona, lol. And you're right, nothing much can top a guitar like this.
