The lick at 22:55 is from the song Computer Blue which was composed by John L Nelson (Prince's father) and Prince. John was a legendary pianist in the Minneapolis area. That's why it was different because it was composed on a piano instead of a guitar.
I once taught beginner guitar, and I want to compliment you on your pedagogy: You're a good teacher, and I'm confident your students feel the same way. Here's to your continued success.
I liked the bit about things that derive from the keyboard. Computer Blue did begin as a piano piece, Father's Song.
I don't know where that came from. That was cool!????
I tried to play that start from when doves cry on my acoustic, sounded bad.
But that purple rain intro is not by Prince but from a live recording of Wendy that was put on the record.
Crazy Idea: How about showing your pedal set up and explaining what order FX should be in and WHY?
Prince was an awesome guitarist, but gifted in playing many instruments. I had the pleasure of working on the Diamonds & Pearl tour. Prince was the only artist I ever saw who hung around the stage as it was being built. He would sit at the Piano just banging out tunes. He seemed addicted to music. But best of all was his guitar picks. They said Love God. Done in gold stylized writing. I always say he did the best Superbowl show, he had to content with pouring rain and somehow that meshed with his performance giving it a extra edge. Honestly one of the absolute top musicians in pop / funk / rock whatever. And thats his magic, he could do anything.
thank you so much
that trick at the end with using your thumb for the octave chords to free up your first finger blew my fucking mind. Prince was so crafty!
Prince had a guitar jones,
What tuning are you in?
Great video! Love the way you explained the techniques and then demonstrated without overteaching.

???? ???? ???????????? ???? ????
Very pleasant video, great job!
Such an underrated video
Some Electronics Cleaner sprayed into that pedals groove under the pedal should clean up that unwanted "crunch"
No KISS??
His style is almost similar to Eddie Hazel of parliament funkadelic. who played "Maggot Brain "
I am the biggest Prince Fan but Purple Rain and Kiss is Wendy Melvoin, playing, no? Credit where credit is due
❤
WHAT DO YOU KEEP.LOOKING AT TO YOUR RIGHT? LOL
Ghost in your home?
Great video
When doves cry probably one of the greatest intro in rock history.
Many people dont realise it, bcoz its lick are so unexpected and way beyond..
Short but so artfull melodicaly.
