The Electric Guitar Players Acoustic Guitar! – The Yamaha APX600
Dagan checks out the ultimate acoustic guitar, for you electric guitar players out there! The mighty Yamaha APX600III. The APX series didn’t just focus on sound – every element was tweaked to be an easy switch for an electric player on-stage, from the stylish finishes to the cutaway body and the slim, electric-guitar style neck.

As an electric guitarist in the 1980s, if you wanted to play acoustic on stage there were few options for you that really worked. In 1987, Yamaha made the first acoustic guitar that could be taken from a guitar rack, plugged in and played at volume, problem free; no more howling feedback, misplaced mics or the dreaded extended sound check….
In any electro-acoustic, the combination of the guitar’s acoustic sound and its pickup is the heart of the sound. The latest APX600 features SRT Piezo Pickup – the same pickup as featured in the highly acclaimed A Series range and boasting incredible dynamic range, natural tone and the feedback rejection and mix-friendly sound that guitarists need and want. Yamaha’s legendary active preamp is still a big feature of APX, and being built by Yamaha’s audio-visual division, the sound quality is everything you’d expect from the world’s number one.
Styles have changed a little since 1987, but the essence of APX is the same as ever. Today’s APX guitars boast a more natural look, 5mm deeper body for better bass response and greater volume and, under the hood, a new non-scalloped bracing pattern for a responsive, dynamic tone.
APX600 Features:
– Thin Body and Cutaway For Excellent Playability
– 634mm Scale Length for Enhanced Comfort
– Narrower String Spacing Makes Stretching for Chords Easier
– New Bracing Pattern For More Powerful Bass Response
– Stage-focused Pickup Sound to Cut Through a Mix
– Inlaid Soundhole Rosette

I have the oriental burst I love it
Honestly one of the the best guitar reviews I've seen! Simple, easy to understand and very practical. Thank you very much!
My man! Sold!
I bought a flamed maple tobacco sunburst from another major outlet in 2019 not long after they were released (and were cheap at £239) and it was a great guitar but within a year the body warped so badly the bridge was lifting off and the action became stupidly high. I went through the usual responses of it being my fault for humidity levels where was stored but the other 4 guitars on the same rack were unaffected. It was eventually changed under warranty and the replacement guitar was just as bad straight from the factory which was a shame as it was a stunning finish. Ended up getting an Epiphone J200 parlour instead which is about the same size and equally as playable although has a slightly thicker neck which I dont mind on an acoustic
hahaa Dagan I've always loved your video reviews, but I had to laugh. I know you really dig this guitar because that jam towards the end was you simply vibing on the guitar, enjoying yourself. Almost as if to say, "if you can't tell this is a great little guitar, I can't help you anymore" Great job brother, and yes I own this one too and I dig it very much myself!!
Going to end up getting one. I like the black, but does the gloss on the black show fingerprints easily?
what was the song on the intro he played
I appreciate that you plug in the acoustic electrics . That is so important , and not a lot of reviews do that. This guitar is so good for the price . The fretboard on mine is really special , especially in this price range . The tone is amazing . I string it with Martin Silk and steel strings , and the attack and the way it responds is just amazing.
Man your playing is so fun to listen to i kept getting caught up in the music and missing your commentary
Just bought one on Amazon thanks to your review! You sound great man! Especially liked the Van Halen pieces???? I’ve been playing for 43 years, mostly electric. I’ve been looking for a decent affordable acoustic and found it???? I had to sell my higher end acoustics due to financial problems. I hope this one will rekindle my fire for acoustics. Thanks again for the review? Liked and subscribed????
what about this one vs ovation
what is the song at 11:43 ???? i can't remember and i want to listen to it really bad
Love those guitars. ❤
I just bought this guitar for Christmas I needed an acoustic with a Cutaway! Can you recommend a good amplifier not too expensive? thanks
I have a Grestch jim dandy parlor, do you think is worthy to swap to this Yamaha? Thanks in advance
I just bought this guitar as my first….3 days in I found your video. What an inspiration to hear what my guitar can do….. love the wide variety of genres you played.
I just ordered this for 289 at guitar center I hope it's good
"I want to buy a guitar. Do you recommend the Fender CD-140SCE or the Yamaha APX600?"
It’s great for beginners, had mine for 5 years. But now I want an upgrade for wider and louder sounding acoustic.
I ordered one for my collection ! Thanks for sharing the video
Had mine a few years…..thanks to another video from Dagan..!! I have the Flame Maple on the left….gorgeous ❤
Hey buddy!. I have followed your reviews and love 'em all
I like the black one can you please review the yamaha apx600 color black????
Love mine (maple flame finish). I'm still learning, teaching myself and messing about (basically, I've no idea what I'm doing ????).
The tone is lovely and it feels nice to hold. The neck feels very similar size wise, to my PRS Custom 22 (no, I can't play that properly either! ????????♂️).
Definitely recommend the APX600????????
Ha! Thats great, I got this white one in the mail a day before you posted this video! It really is an awesome guitar, and beautiful to boot.
???? Just remember that, “Every rose… has its thorn.”????
what’s the difference between APX 600 and APX 700ii ? Great playing
What is the action like on the APX600? I’ve tried other brands that claim to be built for the electric guitar player but always found the action to be more like and acoustic than an electric guitar. Would love some feedback from those of you who own one of these..
Had one for a few years and absolutely love it. Records well, plays great and the tuner is so handy
nice playing
I bought an APX600 from PMT Romford recently, it’s an amazing guitar, lovely to play and sounds great ????????????
APX 600 is purely electric guitarists' acoustic guitar and looks quite competent with other electric guitars on stage as regards tone and aesthetic. A review on CPX 600 will also be highly appreciated. APX 600 and CPX 600 are cool acoustic guitars considering their electronics and price point. The electronics on these guitars — Yamaha System 65 might not be as premium as Fishman Presys+, however, when prices are taken into account, CPX 600 and APX 600 are a great choice.
God shut up man.
The 12 series acoustics all are easy to play and i love playing them live. If you find one used the 9-12 or 10-12 used (they are both way off the market)both have stereo and mono output jacks allowing for possibilty of 3 channel simultaneous out. The 700 has the art system which is incredible in and of itselfnandnis still.current model. The 4-12 is as basic as it get with its preamp (no tuner) but still is a joy to play with easy access high frets and fun to play. I use baritone strings on mine andnitnholds. B standard easily and i take it on stage often. I own quite a few of the apx six strings and love playing them live as welln
I've had mine for aout 2 years. Its great! I like to run mine through my BD2-chorus-reverb pedals…. Almost sounds like a 12 string. Very satisfying to play.
My step kids bought me one of these about three years ago. For an affordable price this guitar is great!!!! I would recommend this guitar to anyone. No it doesn't have the big warm sound of a more costly guitar but great for beginners and experienced players.
Or you could an old 700 series Line 6 Variax…
Let's see the storias ????
Ive had mine 4 years and its the perfect slim/full strength acoustic/electric mine is the black one on the right ????????????
Dagannnnnnnnnnnnn
