Rj Ronquillo and I are both huge Hendrix nuts. In this video we start down the path to finding the ultimate Hendrix tone. We took everything from run of the mill fuzz pedals from Dunlop and MXR that you can find at Guitar Center to super boutique hard to find fuzz pedals like the Burkos Third Stone and put them through their paces. Check out the video to see what pedals made it through this round. Coming up in part 2 more fuzzes and then we are on to my favorite part of Hendrix’s tone the Vibe pedal!

  • Just got my sunface. Bart germanium. What a great pedal. Quiet. Cleans up well. Even with a wireless and the pedal in my loop switcher. I always go back to this video when buying a new fuzz

  • I liked the Monterey & EJ the best. the Monterey had amazing cleanup, the EJ has gorgeous sizzle. cant go wrong with any of them though.

  • Having a Boss Waza fuzz and Fjord Fuzz Berserk, one is lower cut and one is higher, either or will work with whatever guitar I throw at it.

  • I'm not a fuzz guy but i think that the old DOD Flashback Fuzz was in fact a fuzz pedal into an overdrive (in a single pedal) and it sounds good, compressed and with enough gain.

  • My first fuzz was way huge swollen pickle, still have it to this day great for pink floyd or ernie isley style fuzz solos,

However it doesnt work with a wah pedal so great, nor does it clean up much when rolling back the volume on the guitar so i think im gonna buy myself the mini jimi fuzz face for my birthday this weekend
im hoping the mini fuzz face

  • Heyy, talking sort of Hendrix tone.. What did Trower use at the very beginning of Long Misty Days song. that huge burning tone? Since Jimi did not use fuzz all the time, what else did he use most of the time to get his massive awesome tones? What good ones now would you use to get the same tones..that are easy to use, not real noisy, but still sound awesome vintage style?

  • Hendrix used to turn his fuzz off when he used his wah (or on after, like for voodoo child)

  • Great demo of some great pedals guy’s which leads me to a question. If I only had one Fuzz to cover most of Jimi’s music what would you choose?

  • my chain is Dunlop mini wah – Ibanez TS9 – Carl Martin PlexiTone – Tone Bender Clone – Oxfuzz Nos Germanium (or Dunlop Jimi Hendrix mini fuzz) – MXR Carbon Copy into a 65 Princeton Reverb at the very edge of break up…. I know everybody says you gotta have the fuzz(es) first, BUT like the guys said in the video…when you engage your fuzz you usually lose a load of mid range, that does not happen so much when you have a buffer in front… SRV had his TS before his Fuzzface. If you have a Princeton and want THE Hendrix tone and the SRV Tone in one small setup THIS IS IT!!!

  • @The Papa if you never heard Hendrix with splattery fuzz i‘d recommend you listen to Songs for groovy Children with the band of gypsys! I think it‘s the absolute best performance of Hendrix!
