  • If it were me i would file the nut instead of the slot itself but looks like you did an excellent job upgrading that sweet bass.

  • the original Fender bridge was good enough for he great players of the past, if you want sustain on a bass youre doing it wrong

  • You are champion sir nice review and setups I was wondering about sustain as well and I couldn’t figure out what it was but is so crucial for tool songs

  • With the nut replacement did you have to do anything about the first fret action? Was it the same height between the original and the new nut?

  • I bought a Fender Jazz bass at a pawn shop. Found out it has a John East active passive control on it. There is only one company that sells them in the US. Otherwise you have to get them from the UK.
I let a friend of mine who is a bass player try it and he wanted to buy it from me.

  • I'm not trying to be argumentative but a high-mass bridge doesn't improve sustain. You can have a bridge that allows for string through body and that doesn't increase sustain. There are high-end bass builders (Sadowsky, etc) that still use simple bent plate bridges because they do just as good of a job and are lower in weight.

  • The MIM and Squire 40th Anniversary series are a great starting point for modding. I also highly recommend the DiMarzio Relentless pups. Game changer! Nice job!
