I've a similar thing where my fretting hand seems to be way ahead of my picking hand. Also shoulder pain in picking hand, especially if I'm sitting,
When I find myself tripping up and can't quite get the picking right… I just do hammer on's and don't pick those problem notes.
That let's my neck hand do what it needs to do and my other hand seems to relax and catch up quicker, than if I tried to drag it through the song with fretting hand. I get less shoulder issues that way.

i give you one secret u can use for strumming solo anything. just press the pick with thumbs forward tilt it no much if it scratchy stop adjust. Just press the pick with thumb forward with little bit hump in thumb and see magic

Man, I´ve been learning OD too and I get your frustration! It IS hard af.. I think it might be the hardest song I've ever attempted learning tbh, but I've noticed that my playing has improved quite awesomely and that's the neat part of challenging yourself, so go get it gurl!
It would have been helpful to slow down and show exactly how you play the exercises or have tabs for us to learn it ourselves. We can all probably figure it out but it takes some time to maybe slow down or repeat sections of the video. Just a suggestion

Yeah, if we start letting the shoulder tense it causes tension in the arm too and it's better to be more relaxed and try to have a good posture which in my case is ridiculously difficult.
