  • “Where you DON’T play all the notes in every position….”
    ????
That’s one of those moron ox’s, right? How can you NOT play all the notes in a position! ????
You almost had me with that one, Rick. You sly devil, you!

  • Playing songs is definitely important. I riff and solo but i played alot of blues songs to really learn shapes pitch harmonics and vibrato. Great lesson rick!

  • Just learning these I’m seeing in my listening and playing patterns that one position goes better into another than one or the other. For example like he shows position 5 E minor pentatonic goes really well into the position 1 an octave lower starting at the 12th fret zone area. 1 to 2 position I find some nice patterns. 2 to 3 it doesn’t feel natural to me or I struggle same with 3 to 4

  • I really like Rick and his channel, and furthermore, I know this is supposed to be a quick lil "bite-sized" 30 minute lesson, but I've been a guitarist here in Nashville for over 30 years and I'M havin trouble with tryin to keep up with this… And a beginner arguably wouldn't be able to get ANYTHING out of this lesson… Rick's a great teacher too, when he takes time and explains what he's playing, and how, but I don't see how ANYBODY that ISN'T familiar with pentatonic scales could follow this at all…

  • What's really creepy is when this is played back at half speed Rick really sounds drunk.

  • Boy… I hope you can play a little faster so I can really not be able to follow you. I got a little something but…

  • Thank you Rick, in terms of getting this kind of knowledge out there, you are the man. I am sure that's what we all wish you well, having heard that you have been a little out of sorts lately. God bless you, big love, and be good, all perhaps be bad if you are better at that sometimes, lol…

  • I find it annoying that you talk so much (more than 3 minutes) in your video, I can never watch it all.

  • watching at 50% speed to get some details right and just loving the lesson and how drunk you sound like. Learning and having fun.

  • ive been playing for over 20 years and rick is great at teaching. maybe this lesson is not for me but its very informative

  • I never think of pentatonics as a scale alone…they are all fragments of full 7 note scales or mode. The major scale contains 3 the melodic minor contains another etc.

  • Has any one seen those people on youtube called guitar master?

And they tell you to stop trying to play solos with the pentotonic box? And they call it the cheat box?

Serios, ive been stuck in this trap for ages,

I used to play bass phils like that the pentatonic ,.

Sorry guys im drunk thats the problem,

  • Rick when you started saying how you could hear the 13th, it immediately reminded me of Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind” where the vocal melody and harmonies are doing the “ba da da da . . . “

  • Sorry you just put me off by your showing how great you are, it does not open the scales to me or tell me what they are for sorry but no……..

    Reply
  • you sir are a BEAST! and by that I mean your guitar skills are incredible . I am saving this as a master class! thank you so much!

    Reply
  • Rick! I just can’t work out what you are playing or how you are phrasing on the guitar ?????? It’s really frustrating!! ????????????????????‍♂️
