Boss ME-90 Review – 3 Months Later (Everything you NEED to Know)

I tested the ME-90 for 3 months before making this review.
Boss brought us the ME-90 as a way to get good effects simply but ARE they good?
Get it at Sweetwater – https://sweetwater.sjv.io/75JnjQ
Get it at Thomann – https://thmn.to/thoprod/570237?offid=1&affid=288

Boss have been in the effects game for a long time and the ME series is aimed to bring you quality tones without any fuss of menu diving or complicated programming. The ME-90 is the successor of the ME-80 and Boss have added a lot of features including a Looper and Bluetooth for an iPhone App.

In this video I cover everything you need to know about the ME-90 including using it in a band.

  • I love how simple this layout is. I have never seen a me-(5-90) before and seeing you calibrate for the Muff I already understand the layout.

That’s impressive for a control panel that looks so busy.

  • They could have stuck to the story and killed Joel at the end of season 2 and done a whole new story if in between..
Would have made more sense for the bad ugly actress for Ellie's age, too..,

  • I bought my me90 yesterday and I already love it it’s my favourite thing I’ve ever bought for my guitar haha

  • Excellent review. The ME-90 has two great effects found on my ME-80. The simple to use Freeze function (perfect for Pink Floyd sounds and worship players) and the TeraEcho effect which is a great ambient sound.

  • Hi, great video, just the information I needed. I see that it is blue tooth compatible, can I use it with my blue tooth JBL speaker? If you can, and this beast uses batteries, I can go jam in the park and scare the squirrels!

  • If you are going to demo a complex product, show precisely how it works, how to achieve the tone. Don't just play the tone. You should watch other videos.

  • Worth watching just for someone shredding, whilst stood on a chair, wearing pink crocs. YouTube at its very best. Thanks for making me smile on a rough day ????

  • OK. I bought one, based on this and other reviews. It is amazing – it has some excellent presets and the manual mode is like having a full pedalboard. I set mine up using a laptop and got it the way I wanted. First gig, I went to kick in a bit of OD for as nice crash chord and fthhhtttt – it came out like a wet fart. Why? checking it over in the break, I discovered that my big feet had messed about with the knobs – they are very sensitive and easy to move while fumbling for the pedal switch with my big flat feet. It was fine at sound check, but with the room full , we don't like to mess about. Blu tak now holds the knobs in place. The upper switches could be another 10mm higher.

  • Can i switch amp channels with the ME90? I have a decent amp and mainly need the effects section and do any added distortion with the duel pugilist. Cureently on the TC Electronics G-Major that allows for switching the channels with the presets. Can you advise?

  • These units are absolutely fantastic for people starting down the effects road, just in terms of LEARNING how effects work, and finding out what you like without spending thousands on pedals. This thing costs about as much as 2.5 mid tier BOSS pedals, and has what, 70+ effects/amps in it?

  • I honestly don't know what I want. on one side, I would like the flagship unit so that sky is the limit, on the other side with all of those great budget units it seems a waste of money going for a Helix, Fractal, Quad ishes whatsoever…

  • Most electronic products are getting cheaper over time: better automated manufacturing techniques, bigger international (cheaper) labor pool, advancements in electronics engineering… Look up “Moore’s Law”.

  • I got one of these cause it's the first ME with effects loop. A year later im still extremely happy with it. I literally don't need 90% of my other pedals with this.

  • Just subscribed because I like this review so much, I am looking forward to your others. I don’t have this unit yet, but am seriously considering purchasing one to add to my other board chains, but mostly for economics for live shows, getting a better mix on stage and laptop recording. I love the modeling capabilities but am so used to the tried and true sound crafting w knobs and know this be an easy tool to emulate several chain combinations from jazz, rockabilly, surf, mostly clean tones to scorching fuzz and shoegaze mod tones. You have me convinced, Homie!❤

  • I'm thinking of buying this over the ne GX10 because it looks simpler to use. It looks like there is only three adjustment knobs per pedal though, I just hope that doesn't make it impossible to dial in a desired sound. I haven't use a multi fx since the Rp55 so I think I'm sold on the simplicity of the ME90. Do you think it will sound okay through the front of a Hot Rod DeVille 212 without using amp models and cab simulators? I don't have any solid state amps, or frfr speakers. Great video, thank you.

  • I saw a drop tuned patches setting on the left side. None of the reviewers touch on this function. Can this thing program drop tuned patches? Our band uses multiple tunings (440 & E flat). Can you program patches for this?

  • I play in 2 cover bands with 70s, 80s, 90s sounds and have tried several pedals so far – often too complex to make quick changes on stage. The new Boss GX10 could also be interesting for me. I'm still leaning towards the ME90. Is it still a good choice? Or will there be an upgrade for the ME90 soon that I should wait for?

  • I'm a software engineer by day and dabble in guitars at night. I enjoy the analog interface of the ME-90, getting as far away from a screen as I can when not working.

  • Although I won’t most probably buy the ME-90 as I already have HX Stomp but I really enjoyed your review and the way you describes things… I subscribed ????????

  • FYI, from a tech at BOSS, the Line/Guitar Amp switch doesn't have to be in either position. Put it into whichever position makes the preamp sound best. All it does is modify the preamps to be better tailored to a guitar amp preamp or a direct line in. Personally, I felt the guitar amp setting made the preamps sound terrible, but to each their own…

  • Can you set the volume pedal as a percentage reduction? e.g. can the down position be set to 75% of the maximum volume instead of off?
