"held back" lol thats the original design, is a reissue, what do you expect the AANJ? If that blocks reduces your playing, then is a skill issue, countless players had these guitars with blocks
got mine in Desert Yellow 1 month ago and I absolutely love it!! By far, the best guitar I have ever played in more than 20 years. Made In Japan, of course. 949€ here in Fr. and that "Super Wizard" neck … God I love that amazing guitar! Thank You Ibanez ♥

That heel isn't even that bad, this guitar rocks!
The beefier neck joint gives a beefier sound, Paul Gilbert himself prefers the old neck joint for the same reason.

How is the fretwork of genesis comparing to say 655?
My number one Is a white 1991 RG550. It has the best neck I've ever played. Reminds me of the older original American Charvel neck.
Shame that in order to go original, they have to use the slant hill (official: Tilt Joint). But at least it is the Tilt Joint, the precursor to AAJN.
Thats why i wont buy one.
I hate that so much. I hate strats just because of that. I need a neck through or a very nice round neck joint, like on a ibanez rg prestige

Completely agree, I have the Purple neon color and for the price point and Japan quality you get and you can also get these for around $899 brand new, you can’t go wrong. I think the stock pickups are not the greatest but I did swap the ceramic neck magnet for the bridge alnico magnet and it made a huge difference to my tone preference. Love the 550 Genesis!!
