DigiTech SDRUM Auto-drummer Pedal Review

Practicing guitar is more effective (and more fun) when you have something to play along with. Unfortunately, by the time you program your drum machine or sequencer, your inspiration is gone. DigiTech’s SDRUM solves this dilemma. Simply dream up a groove, bang out a couple of bars on your guitar, and the SDRUM’s BeatScratch technology will build a full drum accompaniment based on your performance. SDRUM leaves plenty of room for customization, with control over tempo, intensity, grooves, and sounds. You also get pads on the front panel for inputting patterns manually.

  • Can this be used without the loops or programming songs? For example, I only need a snare drum sound when I play muted strings on my guitar while playing a song. I'm using a Boss floor pad for kick drum. I'm not interested in playing along with programmed drum patterns. I want just a snare drum whenever I play muted strings as the backbeat. Thanks.

  • I’m not kidding when I say that the SDRUM got me into performing live again. This thing is incredible. I highly recommend the external foot switch so you can change song sections and add drum fills.

Hoping that Digitech comes out with more incredible products like this in the future.

  • And how do you locate the preset you just saved? Do you have to a scroll blindly and listen? Also, you didn’t show how you use the verse, chorus, bridge parts. I’m assuming hitting the foot switch can do it, or do you have to buy the external foot switch?

  • does anyone know if you can leave it in learn mode all the time. I am thinking that for a live performance it would be great to start a song with a few dead strums to suit the basics of the beat and then hit the start button to bring in the additional sounds. it would be great to go from a country song to a rock n roll song if this is the case. I find setting up a pattern and tempo on a drum machine spoils the flow .

  • Can this thing do 3/4 time? Most of these pedals can't. That's a major deal-breaker for me.

  • This looks like a phenomenally useful pedal for showing a drummer what you want.

So does it go by round/unwound for kick/snare?

  • 'Online Owners Manual' …err, no thanks. I want a manufacturer that takes the effort to give me a simple to use booklet manual included in the box with the device. Like BOSS does

  • Can I calibrate using a synth or a keyboard using the lowkeys for the kick and the higher keys for the snare?

  • Hi Sweetwater: Could it learn a pattern, instead of from a guitar, from an external audio source, like a phone or computer? Or even a keyboard? For example, if I hooked up my phone to it and played The Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows," would it learn the song's complicated beat? Or must it be string-deadened guitar sdrum ? Thank you.

  • WOW.. this pedal is complicated… just want a simple drum beat pedal to go with a rhythm I play…sorry must go ..

  • That's not a foot pedal. It belongs in a rack. You'd be bending over way too much

  • Trying to decide if this is a product that's actually for sale, or just the drummer joke to end ALL drummer jokes?
