5 Things I Love | Yamaha THR5 | Guitar Amp Review

Today I’d love to show you my practice amp No1. – Yamaha’s THR5 guitar combo. Perfect amp for your practice room, living room or even your office. In my opinion the Yamaha THR5 or THR10 are worth every penny and a great addition to your amp collection. Great guitar tones at low volumes without disturbing your neighbors.
Have fun!

  • I'm glad for you that it suits you . But here's some alternative viewpoint :

    Before I recently l got a THR-5 , l've been using a THR-10C .

    I play clean . The 10C gives me 3 or 4 options .

On the 5 , the one clean channel is very sensitive between getting any sound , and getting breakup .

The effectics are similar , but .. The 5 is hypersensitive . Very narrow range between getting any effect , and getting too much .

And 3 tone knobs are way more adaptable than the single tone knob. ( Depending on the amp model , if the origonal had two , then only two are active ) .

The 10 has presets , and * l * find that useful . One set up to my taste on '59 Bassman model , a clean '65 Deluxe Reverb , and a driven '65 DR preset two more if I want to set up a Waylon – esque slow phaser , or one more with heavier Verb .

If the 5 does exactly what you want , great ! . But the 10C is much more versatile , and more foregiving to set up .

  • I've got a 5 and a 10. I've used mine a number of times live. I run a regular guitar cable out of the headphone jack and directly to my stage amp. Place it on a music stand beside me and adjust all controls, on the fly, to my hearts content. Great Yamaha effects, gain, volume right at my finger tips.

  • I got one of these brand new with tape on the box still. I have never opened it. I had it about 18 months.

  • Great review. Your blues tones were great! I purchased this amp from a friend (for an exceptional price) many years ago when he upgraded to the THR-10 and use it every day

  • My THR5 is acting up. I bought it used from a nephew and it worked great for a couple of years. Anyone know about getting it repaired?

  • I valued your opinion I'm looking for a room Amp that can handle Thrash / straight metal & some Shred of course . Even though you didn't explore these styles do you think it can do them well ??

  • Wish it supported Bluetooth. Hard to find a phone or tablet that has a headphone jack anymore.

  • thx for this realistic review. most other reviews consist of some random guy just shredding up and down the fretboard.
