  • I understand your point. If one of the primary ways in using the pedal is with a printer cable, then don't be so greedy and just include one. They're cost would be a dollar, mine is ten. Seems a bit disconnected ( see what I did there?) ????

  • The Kemper is my first modeler, and I'm with you on the fact that it sounds great! I have the rack model, and I use it live through house or through my Peavey Classic 50/50 and two cabs. When at home, I can play quiet with headphones, which is great, but it sounds quite different from any other way. The difference seems to be that the highs are more pronounced ( this could be my headphones).
I watched this to see if it was worth switching for live situations, and it seems to me that the price point makes me want to stick with what I have.
I agree that there is a huge learning curve when coming to this unit. I spent days watching YouTube to learn the subtle ways of editing rigs. I also spent a massive amount of time playing different rigs to find tines I like. I found that I seem to gravitate toward two or three different amp tones (1. A good Fender clean 2. A Marshall drive sound 3. Supro kind of Led Zeppelin tone). The liquid models and the ability to change to a model of gain stage is amazing. I don't use the software to do this, I just dial it in on my rack.
Anyway, thanks for the informative time which helped me save a few bucks.

  • So where are the effects? Delay, Chorus, etc- i assume its not really a multi effects unit- but you capture the sounds from an amp and play it back- hence profile player. Just want to be sure I understand the product as it is

  • I love my Kemper Toaster, but it's a lot of carrying with the remote. I bought the Player for $730 (not available used at a lower price anywhere – yet) with the idea of using a few analog pedals and an external midi switcher on a small, "al-in-one" digital pedal board. Problem #1 is the power source – you need a CIOKS DC7 and another unit (total $300) to run it on a pedalboard without plugging in the included power supply. Problem #2: to get the best functionality, Kemper wants $300 for software downloads. That's $1300+ before you add the pedalboard and extra pedals. I returned it and got a Kemper Stage used for $1100 that does it all (except for the annoying tuner that Kemper employs!). I think when you can get a used Player for $400 and more power supplies are compatible, it's potentially an option, but it doesn't seem to make sense from a practical or financial standpoint at this time. With Tonex coming out with an update containing more effects and market prices under $300 used, Kemper Player seems like a poor option.

  • what a bad sound
I don't know why the success
my tube preamp pedals sound so much better with a naturel and dynamic sound full of harmonics and great clean tone
vs this boring dark sound (like all the digital units)

  • But if you were a guy with a youtube channel, could you review pedals and trust that the Kemper wasn't screwing it up? Given that the Player Profiler only has 2 FX (pre-amp, plus 2 post-amp), pedals really are an issue.

  • i love my kemper and have recorded a fair few albums with it. from metal really soft clean stuff. i’d still rather have a real fender deville orange ac30 marshall and something heavy. but i can’t afford those things. i can’t record them as nicely and i certainly can’t take all those on stage = Kemper. knopfler having one on stage ended the argument for me.

  • tbh, UAFX and TONEX still better for me, kemper profile it's just too expensive and some are not my cup of tea

  • It’s a great compact unit and the software isn’t really a problem. Worst thing about it is that you can’t switch on the tuner and mute it. You can select a channel and mute it but you can’t activate the large tuner only the small 3 led one. I contacted Kemper and they said there would be an update soon. There’s no way of assigning a patch using 2 foot switches combined, so that would be a solution. It’s worth the money nonetheless. I love the iridium too but it’s for a whole pedal board system. This is the best sounding amp sim around especially if you need clean sounds. A lot of these units have awful clean sound

  • I’m so confused with all these things coming out. I don’t know what I need to get lol is there a difference between a modler and an effects pedal? Lol it may be a crazy question, I just want to make sure I get the right things like do I need a cabinet too? Can someone please guide me? I always just used a guitar and amp but I want better/more sounds.
