  • Just random seeking jazzy backing track with my Ibanez, and here it is, the photo of my actual guitar !

  • Fantastic! This is the first time that a little instructional jazz piece for guitar provided here is simple, straightforward and actually makes logical sense !!

I'm flabbergasted ! And what makes it so bizarre, is that I have low grade MS, which after having a special MS stem cell treatment in Moscow in 2020, that although I am now disease free (the treatment only stops the progression of the disease), In my case, since my MS walking disability was treated relatively early, it has kept me walking, albeit nowhere near like before, but I feel fortunate that I am still mobile, albeit with the aid of a cane. In any case, one thing that the MS caused is stiffness in my hands, but worse in my left hand, which has really hampered my ability to play my guitar. Anf yhis happened just as I really started to come into my own re: playing jazz/,chord melody.

Anyway, I said all of this to put an exclamation mark on how euphoric I feel about how much sense this little exercise makes!

There are literally hundreds of thousands of jazz guitar instrùcþion guides available online, and quite a large part of them are free! That's great, unfortunatrlý however, 99.9,% of them maý as well be in a Chinese, because they are like trying to figure out how to fit a square peg into a triangle of the same size!

Nevertheless, this small jazz backing track for guitar, is rumple, because it makes total sense – and that's for s guy with stiff hands that have 75% less glexibilitý than before I got the MS! For the 1dt time in 46 years, I understand much more about the method to the madness behind jazz guitar improvisation. It's just minor breakthrough in the grand scheme if things, buy for me it feels like a giant leap really!

Thanks for your patience everyone. I had to share my joy that's all. These days any little bit of happiness feels totally great for a change.

  • This is great .
I'm tuned to c# standard so found out the natural minor (aeolian mode) lands up on the 8th fret of the 6th /1st string .
Making Dorian starting on the first fret and Lydia on 4th fret. Very interesting and convenient to shift modes around to fit what you're jamming too . Cheers to all and happy new year 2025

  • Just play a C major scale over all 3 chords. Put emphasis on DFAC when it’s Dmin7, on GBDF when it’s G7, and CEGB when it’s Cmaj7. Use CDEFGABC.

  • Been jamming on this for an evening, wanted to try improvising on something easy and repetitive. (I'm just trying to start learning about music theory and soloing and whatnot) Anyway, would have settled for anything groovy with changes i wouldnt have to think about too much as an absolute novice. I've been thoroughly entertained so thanks for posting this. I've had a wild time trying to play by ear based on practically zero fundamentals. Eventually i did decide to zoom in on the scale diagram you provided and used that as a guide. At that point i was blown away, because just about anything using those notes sounded genius. Hopefully one day i get to the point where i understand why that is.
Point is that ive probably learned more from the time i spent on this video than from a hundred random tutorials .

And dude who is saying just olay random notes.. sure. But i think theres more to it than that!
