  • I love my old Korg tuner (the little rectangular tuners that you plug into). It's definitely not perfect though. I think it's around +/- 1 cent. Eventually I'm going to replace it with a strobe as I start doing more professional setups

  • The Polytune indicates differently when doing individual strings compared to all six together. Not terribly reliable in that regard. Someone stole mine… When folk come to your house to try a guitar, keep an eye on them… 🙁

  • You've got to have a pedal tuner since it is the most accurate way of signal !!

So you have got to have two best and most accurate tuner pedals :
    1. Turbo Tuner ST 300 — Though very accurate, still the fastest .
    2. Peterson StroboStomp HD tuner — Has colors and very accurate.

Why both ? Since both have the same accuracy and in a way you can clearly detect it and in a fast manner. Both are work of ART.

If you have those two you have no need whatsoever for others .

Yet I have a few more, to be honest, though for intonation, I use Turbo Tuner and Peterson only.
You could use them interchangeably – They will get you to the same point.

Other from those two MUST have , I have a TC electronic Neck Clip tuner , also a 3rd Pedal tuner from korg and a 4th pedal tuner from Boss ( the black Waza Craft) ; Non are as accurate nor achieving high accuracy in such a comprehensive way such as Turbo Tuner and Peterson.

You can use Turbo Tuner and Peterson for tuning and intonation.
For intonation, I wouldn't use anything else than just those two !

And I've got to say – This Turbo ST 300 Tuner is super fast and responsive.
    I must say.

  • I used a tuning fork in the early 80s! I loved the fork to play tricks on teachers in school. etc! Tuning my guitar was really difficult for me. There was no other way for me, and it kept braking strings, like my promises to girls back then. lol The next and only music store was in a nather town and I lived in the mountains on a farm! Really crazy times, thinking ack but wonderful in the snow and listening to pink floyd

  • I have used all these tuners!! they are all good! have to say the Peterson is the best one for accuracy and what I use now.

  • I was just using my old quartz tuner before watching this!

Wittner gt2…might be time for an upgrade lol

  • Does anyone else have issues with the cheaper landlord fx tuner, or is that just me? I recently got it and it seems to have a really big margin for error. It will tell me I’m in tune and the display won’t change even when I have clearly changed the pitch of the note. Two completely different sounds and it will tell me they are both in tune. It’s like it is basically saying… ‘close enough’.

  • Question: Is the Daddarrio Sound Hole Tuner compatible with a sound hole pickup? Would you just slide it to one side of the pickup?

  • None of these tuners would work for me as I’m a blind guitar player. I have used tuning its before, but I now use an app on my iPhone called talking tuner which tells me by voice if the note I’m playing is either flat sharp or in tune. I wish some company would make an audio tuner that would play the notes of the strings so I could just tune to the correct pitch. The tuners do sound very cool though. Thanks for a good video.

  • boss for the floor. it's a tank. strobe tuners for the guitar tech where they won't be subject to a beating. in studio, strobe all the way

  • Hi, you should have put them all on at the same time so that we could see the variation. Thanks.

  • I have the strobostomp mini, which comes built in with a high quality low impedance buffer and true bypass if you’d like. Crazy accurate and has sweetened tunings for anything you can imagine. You can find it bundled with the stroboclip for a discount on a popular online instrument dealer

  • You two have some sort of emergent property together on screen, kind of like May, Hamster and Clarkson back in the day.

  • Ordered a Peterson Strobostomp HD this afternoon. This vid was part of that decision. I appreciate the very reliable and confidence-inspiring comparison reviews (and always light-hearted entertainment associated with guitars) on the Anderton's channel. Seeing this review for the first time a month ago, I remember Pete saying, "Ah! It's a good tuner, isn't it!" at 11:05. That comment stuck with me as I shopped the market and arrived at today's purchase choice. The Captain calling it "le creme de la creme" at 12:08 cemented my satisfaction as I now await its arrival in the mail in a week or so.

  • Peterson also make clip-on strobe tuners; price 50-60 quid. I bought one a week or so ago and it's just brilliant! Best tuner I've ever owned.

  • Thanks for updating the Guitar Tuner review. I'll be using this to hone the choices available on the market. Good work, Anderton's!

  • The StarKist is my brand of tuna. although the BOSS TU-3 has been identified in ancient cave paintings.

  • Back in the "olden" days, when I was poor and there weren't alot of cheap tuner options, I used the song Tom Sawyer from Rush. The first note was an E. I tuned to that and then tuned the rest to the E string. It worked. Now I just use a tuner.

  • You can switch the buffer off on the strobostomp and have true bypass when it's off. Without that, you couldnt use old school fuzzes after it etc.

  • The strobostomp is the Strymon of tuners. I feel like regular tuners lock on the overtones, while the strobostomp locks on to the fundamental. I play 5 string bass and the strobostomp is never confused about which string I am tuning, never hesitates, just clamps on to the string being tuned with uncanny stability and accuracy that makes every other tuner look like a toy. No need to roll off tone, tune by harmonics or whatever rubbish other tuners require to be more stable.

  • Do mention intonating your guitars. It's the true tuner test & the pathway to ultimate harmony.
I used to use 440hz tuning fork between my teeth , with fret harmonics.

  • Missing the korg pitch black, which is my fave of the bunch. Including my peterson.

  • I have a Snark HZ 'Super Tight' Clip-on which responds quickly and is accurate, however I still need to temper the tuning across the guitar strings so my open strings sound the same note as the fretted string (Top E fretted 3 G same as open G etc)
I had the super cheap clip on tuners and they are a waste of money, you can hear the pitch change but the tuner isn't sensitive and fast enough to display the subtle change in pitch. If you end up with strings a bit up and down relative to each other the guitar just sounds a mess.

  • The Peterson is the industry standard for professional guitar technicians and luthiers. It’s the most accurate tuner for setting intonation.

  • I have a Korg Pitch Black for years. Can’t fault it. Bought a clip on one as well.

  • Sonic Research Turbo-Tuner. Small company but super serious about their product and makes some of the best true strobe tuners available. Only available from their website I believe but don't let that put you off as it's made in USA and is a high quality unit. Also does open tunings and temperaments as well as the usual tuner auto-mode of hit a string and it reads the note.

  • What ever happened to learning about ear tuning??? Or Piano ???? used to tune or Pitch Pipe Tunner Tunning Fork ? Relative tuning… The V stands for Violin ???? 4 strings G,D,A,E, vs a 6 String Guitar E,A,D,G,B,E. I do believe in you have to learn by ear to become a good musician hear a song on the radio & know how to transcribe it by ear.. However The Multi effects pedals typically have tuners also a pedal that tunes is good for electric guitar. The clip on ones are Great cheap easy to transport. The Strobe Tuner Great for Luthier's Peterson CHARGE MORE MONEY ????????????.. However for most giging musicians the Peterson is overkill.. most people could not tell the difference.. Cheers ????????????????????????????????
