Janet Robin & Taylor #2: Intermediate Fingerpicking (with a driving bass)

This acoustic guitar series of mini lessons is perfect for the beginner, intermediate, and even the advanced acoustic guitarist. With lot’s of options of lessons to choose from you can learn a series of fingerpicking patterns to either start you out on the technique, or add new pattern you may not know. You will also learn some super cool percussive styles and alternate tunings, along with some very important tips and tricks. All of these different techniques will be sure to inspire you as a beginner or step up your acoustic guitar playing to the next level.

In this lesson, you will learn a slightly different form of fingerpicking from Travis, one with a driving bass line and additional triplets. Used by unique guitarists such as Lindsey Buckingham and Nick Drake, this form of fingerpicking is rhythmic and hypnotic and can draw the listener into your song more intimately- not to mention is a lot of fun to play!

Janet Robin is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, film and television composer, and guitar coach. She released four successful albums and shared the stage with an array of musical stars. In the 1990s, she was a full-time member of Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingam’s band, and has also toured with Meredith Brooks – well known for the global hit “Bitch”. The American guitar virtuoso & singer-songwriter Janet Robin was the only female student of Ozzy Osbourne’s legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads.

In the last two decades, Janet Robin has built a reputation as a solo artist. Her acoustic guitar virtuoso skills were acknowledged by the Guitar Player Magazine, where she was listed as one of the Top 20 Acoustic Rock Guitarists in 2017. She was also listed as one of the “Top 10 Female Guitar Players” in Guitar World Magazine. Her skills & style were further developed in the legendary Cash Cabin Studios by producer John Carter Cash, the son of Johnny Cash.

She also started a special all guitar all instrumental band called The String Revolution. They were recently invited to perform a show at The Grammy Museum in Los Angeles and their Spotify streams are over 2.3 million.

Film lovers, especially those of Tarantino movies, will be intrigued to know that Janet was an important part of Tarantino’s blockbuster “The Hateful Eight”. In preparation for the final scene of the movie, she became the guitar lector to actor Jennifer Jason Leigh. She spent 3 months on set.
