Marshall JVM – Is This Marshall’s Most Versatile Amp.
In today’s video, I look at the Marshall JVM 205C. The JVM range is Marshall’s flagship range of amps with midi switching dual master volumes and digital reverb. In this video, I look at both channels with the 6 modes to see how it sounds.
JVM205C
Intensify your tone with the JVM205C. With three different modes per channel, this 2×12” 50W combo can take you from clean to high-gain overdrive and anything in between. The pairing of one Celestion Vintage 30 and one Celestion Heritage speaker creates a warm, powerful blend that perfectly complements the amplifier. Whether you’re experimenting, performing or recording, this versatile amp is the complete package.
KEY FEATURES
SIX DISTINCT SOUNDS
Two channels, each with three gain modes, gives you access to a wide range of sounds and almost-endless options for refining your tone. Along with the three-way EQ in each channel, the Presence and Resonance controls let you shape the tone from the power amp.
THE HEART OF YOUR RIG
Connect a host of effects pedals and other external gear within the JVM’s two effects loops. The first loop is adjustable to let you perfectly blend your effects and original tone together. JVM amps can also receive and repeat MIDI commands for ultimate control and synchronising with the rest of your setup.
STAND OUT SOLOS
Use the two master volumes and built-in reverb controls for exhilarating solos. Instantly recall your mode and reverb settings with the programmable footswitch (included), giving you power and flexibility exactly when and where you need it.
SILENT RECORDING
Take your sound from the stage to the studio with the flick of a switch. With the JVM in silent recording mode you can hook up to an interface or mixing desk to capture that perfect take.
The Studio Rats are core band members Paul Drew on guitar/production/mixing, drummer James Ivey and Dan Hawkins on bass. They collaborate with singers and musicians to produce radio-ready songs.

I’ve played a JVM210h through a 4×12 for a decade. I’ve never heard another amp do quite what that one does. The Orange OD Channel is maybe the greatest amp sound ever made.
Managed to get myself one of these for £780 the other day! It was a no brainer for the price
Great tone ????
I played at at the shop and im absolutely in love, can you play it at home though?
How does this compare to the Marshall JVM 410 Combo amp? I know the 410 has a million more knobs, but does it sound any different?
I have this amplifier on the way partially because of this video. Now, if I can just learn those licks. Especially the Steve Vai sounding classical thing. ????
I notice you're running the MV's above 12 o clock – I take it you've got it running through an attenuator, as that would be LOUD without
I’m typically a “hater” on equipment demos- because most people just focus on highlighting their playing.
You on the other hand, have a great balance of great playing and equipment exploration.
I will follow your channel.
Thank you
could be the best looking PRS I ever seen. Dot inlays Gold Top… SAAAHHHHWWWEEEEEET
What gate are you using? Yours sounds awfully quiet compared to mine
Its got the old-school Marshall sound with modern tech.
BTW at the start of the video what pedal were you using to get that sound if any? I have this amp and want that exact sound.
Thats it. Am sold. Jvm it is
girlfriend bought me this cant wait
Love mine, the FX loop not so much….. it rarely plays nice. Anyone else have issues w/theirs? It seems I'm not the only one.
Sold mine after the Friedman BE50dlx landed
Sir could you demo the jvm 210c amp please with someone that records competently thank you
It's J ust a V ersatile M arshall
The clean sound is horrendous , no body, no warmth, just another POS Marshall
Your review got me in the mood for buying the Marshall JVM205C soon.
Wow. The high-gain tone sounds almost like a Soldano. What a great amp!
Just bought a JVM 50 head and a AAA quilt top 60’s Les Paul Standard in Ocean Water
Your musical taste sucks for anybody that wants this amp. It’s a metal hard rock amp not a stupid blues classic rock amp , go play a fender blues Junior or vox, and stop wasting peoples time
How about the volume? Does is need to be very loud to get these tones? Or isnthere a loadbox betelween the amp and speaker?
Great playing. Lovely amp
Can you play this at bedroom volume and still sound good?
I bought JVM215C last week. This amp is perfect! Worth every cent. Best investment I did in the guitar gear.
sounds really great and great player as well …
I hear a lot of complaints about the JVM’s being very noisy on the OD channels compared to other models, is that true?
Hi ! You are one of my favorite on YouTube
Nice souding on your hands
????????
Why would you even need pedals up front
That's the sound!
Love my 2012 JVM 215C, and not just because it has my initials on it. I use the clean channel with just a touch of dirt and boost it with an OCD and Lovepedal Eternity. I also run a line from the effects loop out into the effects loop return on a modified (effects loop added) '68 Bassman. The Marshall pre-amp through the Fender power amp sounds incredible!
5:31 what scale is that? very cool and familiar somehow
I have a JVM410C that I love. Only issue is it weighs 100lbs. Not ideal for gigging. A 2 channel 20 watt version would be amazing.
This dude makes everything sound great. I love the JVM's, though. Had the 50 watt 1×12 combo at one time. If Marshall comes out with a studio JVM, I'm 100% in!
Hi. Can I ask what your signal chain is, after the amp? I'm assuming a stereo reverb?
How good is the master volume on this amp?
Owning a 410H and LOVING it. To me THE amp I´ve been waiting for. a true soiund-library. from recto-style metal to classic rock to pristine cleans. it covers ANY musical style with excellency.
imho.
shame you're demoing it using a prs
Now; …..there are two versions; the JVM215 with 1 X 12" and the JVM 205 2 x12" Celestion. Which one to buy? Is it worth the price difference?
I`m sold on this amp. Know, there are two versions; the JVM215 with 1 X 12" and the JVM 205 2 x12" Celestion. Which one to buy? Is it worth the price difference?
amp aside, nice playing bro !
My favorite Marshall on the planet.
Best demo of this fantastic amp that I’ve ever heard…….! ????????
I like this channel……
This guy always has a great tone….
had a 210h for 10 years. okay for recording, not enough pressure live. Switched to good ol' JCM800 2203 from 1982.. will never switch back
The JVM is a dogs breakfast of clipping diodes & fizzy distortion!
