  • Chris… love your touch on the guitar and your approach to sound. I am also in the process of building a new board and am also incorporating the Line5 Stomp XL. I am using a two amp rig and was wondering how your incorporate the XL into your rig. I thought of using it only for the wet effects, but am concerned that I'm wasting its potential. Any feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks.

  • A mooer blues driver!! (that's an endorserment..) Whatever the pedal, stacking low gains into each other sounds the best to me

  • Really wanted to come see you in NYC, but I couldn’t get the money together before the show sold out because I’m on a fixed income and had to wait for the next month’s money to come in (and I would have needed to cover two tickets because I have a medical aide who comes to push my wheelchair and assist). Major bummer for me, but hugely excited for you guys that the shows have been selling out so quickly!

Above all, I really wanted my medically task trained service dog to have the experience of hearing you guys playing live — while I can’t play guitar nearly as well as you, Hughie deeply enjoys guitar and live music. He always gets so chilled when he hears you and your band playing. Hughie probably enjoys your music even more than I do, if that is at all possible, lol. We don’t get to experience too many live gigs. In fact, I haven’t been to one in years because of my health issues and the cost other than a free nearby D’addario sponsored event that had a live band at a local craft brewery this past winter. If the timing had worked out with the tickets getting released when I got my monthly SSI/SSDI, I could have made it work and treated me and my boy (and a medical aide, lol) to a special gig with amazing music, played by skilled, heartfelt musicians. Ahh, well . . . I will have to hope that you’ll come back to the NYC area again soon.

Maybe your team can consider booking a venue in the Flushing, Queens area closer to where I live in the future? It would be cheaper and I’m sure lots of your fans don’t even live in Manhattan anyway — many are likely traveling from outside Manhattan by car or public transit anyway. Parking is also going to be much cheaper or even free depending on the venue in the outer NYC boroughs.

The Bronx and Brooklyn also have great options. I’d love to recommend checking out Lehman College in a lovely area of The Northern Bronx. They have two different indoor spaces — one accommodates up to 500, and the other I think holds up to 2000. Both theaters have top of the line equipment and staff to run everything. Lots of A listers have performed there. I bet you can also set up an outdoor venue on one of their massive lawns too. I’ve seen that done as well. The university also has a massive parking lot and is right near tons of busses and several major train lines. It’s really a great venue and will be much more affordable between ticket prices for fans and your own budget since it’s run by a non-profit. I was studying to become an Early Childhood teacher and also majored in Sociology at Lehman once upon a time, but I also was working in one of their instructional support services programs as a social sciences tutor for many years until life and my health issues caught up with me. I am very familiar with the quality of the shows because I’ve attended many shows there over the years and have known students and professors who were working in the theaters as staff and/or were students in programs like music, theater, etc. Lehman is really a great place to put on an amazing show while saving yourselves and fans lots of money in the process.

In fact, lots of universities with music and theater programs have similar facilities available for rent — your team should check into options like that wherever you’re aiming to land. It’ll help fans and your bottom line, and you’ll still get as good if not better quality audio/video equipment as some of the venues you’re booking. Hope this tip helps!

  • Absolutley brilliant! I'd be really interested to know what each of the drives&boosts add exactly to the tone in the signal chain. Maybe you could go into details on this sometime….

  • Super Chris! Did you ever consider going wireless? I am presently using the Shure guitar system which does come with a tuner built in. I do hear the difference but the flexibility on stage is useful. Happy Easter.

  • For me it’s always a balance of size/weight, convenience and fun factor.
I have to fit everything with my clothes and toiletries. Maybe I’ll sacrifice that extra change of underwear and socks for couple of pedals.
