  • Heard good things. But to me it has to look good, or else I don't want to pick it up. It can be one of the best playing guitars out there, but if it looks as ugly as this then it's a no go.

  • Me just sitting here scratching my head while I hold my Blackguard Tele…????

    "I'm good with this Bro…"

Cool guitar, not my thing but good to know. Paint job is a Chameleon Flip/Flop on the body. Sounds pretty good but I also know that's your tasteful playing. Good video.

  • Dean Gordon is going to skyrocket in popularity once people know how amazing the guitars are. Great vid as usual, Andre!

  • You know this is a promo because all the sincere comments and burry in the bottom and all the promoters and AI bots sounding like a use car commercial all on the top . No soul in most of them.

  • I like deans bro but 4k . This just feels like a promo pretending to be organic . It’s like talking points from a sales pitch . With all the AI in the comments

  • Andre, did you say there was an affiliate link on the performaxe? Am I just too stupid to see it? Cheers

Also… with 2 custom guitars already on order… I should probably stop watching this video…

  • Ergonomics is a huge part of the experience. Only pain-free playing engenders lifelong playing. – Thanks for the review. Will check them out.

  • I have owned a Dean Gordon for quite a few years now and I can say, on top of being able to deliver an amazing guitar, that Dean is one of the few luthiers that will deliver end to end greatness

He will hop on a call in minutes just to figure out the playablity of the instruments and always have the best attitude for delivering greatness on time

kicker: dean knows a lot of lumbyards so he would be able to find the greatest pieces of wood out there

  • The best aspect of Dean's guitars is that they are not slave to 50's design. I personally detest 50's design so a DG was a perfect fit for me. As a disclaimer, I do talk to Dean a lot and have given Dean a lot of feedback on his designs incuding the headless models as they were being developed.

My story with Dean began back in 2019 when I decided I wanted a guitar with SSS configuration because I only owned dual humbucker guitars at the time. I spent a lot of time shopping around but could not bring myself to buy a guitar with a 50's design. I even went to Japan to shop. I came close to buying a Black Smoker but could not pull the trigger so I bought a Bizen instead. I decided that I had to do a custom build to get what I wanted so I sent a message to Dean who I had followed since his early days. We worked on a build together. It was wonderful to work with Dean on all aspect of the build and we went back and forth with ideas. That is one reason why people do custom builds. That guitar is shown in this video at the 4:51 time mark. It's the pink to lavender Virtus in the lower right hand corner. I am a repeat customer and later ordered a Mirus to go with the Virtus. Dean was kind enough to suffer through the smell in making that guitar. Who knew that sassafras smelled like sewage when cut?

The cost is the cost. They are certainly not cheap. But they are priced about the same as many other brands like Mayones, Skervesesen, Waghorn, 962 Woodworks, etc.. They are cheaper than brands like Padalka, Carillion, Oni, ….. Dean is trying to put out something much less. Andre mentioned this in the video. So stay tuned.

  • You ever heard of Bilt guitars?

Josh Scott plays one. I've been enamored by them lately. Just wow.

This guitar featured here is cool, but too sporty for my taste ☆

  • In all honesty, it looks hideous, because it lacks consistency. It's like different parts of the body follow a different aesthetic. Sharp angles here, smooth curves elsewhere. That's ugly to my eyes.

  • The ability to have the ergonomic body but with a headstock is why I want one so bad, I like how headless guitars feel but the "phantom pain" of no headstock throws me off so bad, it's like staring at an arm with its hand cut off.

  • I remember hanging out at reddit/ luthier around 5ish years ago and seeing Dean drop one of these in a thread.
It was literally like someone had set off a grenade – it was a Virtus with the headstock and dual humbuckers if I remember correctly – his homage to a Ferrari in Giallo Fly yellow.
Everyone went ga-ga and I remember chatting with him about the aircraft-grade aluminium he was using for the lower horn, the carbon fibre details, the body carves and THAT colour.
Also loved hearing about his early adventures at trade shows.
I am so glad that his creations are getting out there and that people love them.

  • Have you ever seen a guitar by OD guitars. Not really ergonomic from what I know, but they’re really beautiful art pieces while also being top top tier guitars.

  • High praise indeed; given it's not long since you put in for the Ceccarini build, how do they compare (especially as you have an Italian one on order)?
