In this video I’m going to show you a new effects pedal I’ve just bought that’s been blowing my mind…

I’ve been having so much fun using it within my practice time that I wanted to show you how I’ve been using it – and more importantly WHY I’ve been using it.

I should also say, I’m totally un-affiliated with the company who make this pedal… so there’s no weird motives for me to make this video… the pedal’s just been rocking my world so much I wanted to share it with you guys 🙂

As always, I’d love to hear from you too… What pedals are rocking your world at the moment?! Lemme know what and why in the comments below the video…

See you in the shed…

Scott 🙂

  • Cannot thank you enough for this review. As a newbie, there was no way I had managed to articulate to my skilled guitarist friend how I felt I was missing something fundamental between the concepts of keys and scales. The MOMENT you played a scale over the drone, I bought the pedal and now want to tackle modes.

  • Am I the only one tripping out looking at the fretboard? Is it nearly the same width from nut to the final fret?! (I have this pedal and I love it.)

  • I've tried to do this with looper, it has more options. Can get there any single tone or chord sequence.

  • After starting to search for "drones", I remembered your video…had a time trying to find this pedal available, but it's now on its way to me! Great stuff, Scott!

  • Hey Scott! I have learned a lot from you! That bass look so comfortable and that string spacing too. If I am not mistaken it is 16mm. That is what I prefer on basses. Anyway, I love that pedal, and I can see many uses for it, and I would like to get it, but I am currently very much on budget. Can you recommend a cheaper alternative?
Even used one are more than 70euros.

  • It may have made sense but I was taking a shot everytime you said "context" and so now my friend is typing this cause I can't use my fingers at the moment! ???????????????????????????? Cheers Scotty ol' boy ol' boy! Context!!! ???? ????????????????????

  • I just use a loop pedal and play one note and then engage it. It’s like a drone with a pulse. Whatever. I don’t see a point in this pedal in my opinion. Just use a looper.

  • Scott welcome to the wonderful weird world of Mike Matthews and EHX????????. Mike is my spirit animal????

  • Its like a really bad looper pedal that doesn't loop. Don't waste your money. I did. But I sold it on to someone else

  • is there difference between the one that says electro harmonix and the one that says nano?

  • When I first bought my EHX Freeze pedal it was like the sky opened wide with possibilities. The Saturday night jam sessions i was running changed for the better. I no longer had to rely on another guitarist or keys player to get some interesting harmonies to improvise on. And can you say ambient synth pad sounds…? Next purchase for me is the EHX Super Ego+ !!!

  • Freeze is a great little practice tool, and it's a lot cheaper than the Plus Pedal, which is also great.

  • I don't care particularly about this pedal, but I finally got to hear a little sneak of Scott the artist and I have to say I could listen to that drone jamming for a long time. Scott is more than a teacher I suspect.

  • The single note drone had me wondering if Peter Gabriel was gonna pop out and start singing Talk to Me. Also reminded me of the end of Phantasm.

  • Hello. I bought one new. When i plugin it on iy red light is blinking fast when its on fast mode. No mather if im presing or not the buton. When i put it on slow . its blinking slow. Im not hearing a difference when y press or not during the playing. Im doing probably something wrong

  • I was almost literally screaming at the monitor after the millionth use of "in context". Only at 7.16 do we get to hear the damn thing in use.
If you want an even more idiosyncratic (but much better demo) using guitar, try this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEwCZtEu6_o&t=283s
There's still lots of chat but there are also lots of demos AND (as a bonus) an albino ferret. Jump to 2.46 for the start of several excellent demos.
My opinion – this really IS a brilliant pedal and is great for practising when your a beginner and figuring out what notes and riffs to play against particular notes or chords – and it's superb later on when you want to try improvising against chord sequences.
