I just love this pedal…
The M80 features dedicated clean and distortion channels which give you tone-shaping flexibility as well as classic sounds. Multiple outputs make the M80 Bass D.I.+ perfect for multi-amp setups, running to the PA, or for studio sessions. A built-in noise gate keep the M80 silent between notes. Whether you are using it as a distortion pedal or as a full-blown preamp/DI, the MXR M80 Bass D.I.+ has the killer sounds you want from your bass, for less than $150!

Great review! Straight and to the point! The noise gate demo was key for me! THANKS!!!!
Your camera is at an angle such that the words above the knobs are not visible in their entirety.
I just play at church, straight into a DI box. I’m looking for something to give me a bit beefier sound with more tone control. Would this be good for that or would I be better going with an EQ pedal? Not so much looking for music distortion in my context.
I got this recently, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on a speaker that would pair well with this, for live shows in small clubs.
The best test of the MXR80.
The only one that make a demo of the noise gate.
im kinda new to bass so would this do the job of a compression pedal or should i get one of those to go with it
What are the blue LEDs for, mods? I've never seen those. I have the older model that has the little rubber knobs on it (it's at least 5 years old). I'm trying to get the Geddy Lee/Chris Squire sound out of it, but the distortion is either too much (fuzzy) or not enough crunch. Any tips?
I love the color and the gate switches.
Please make us all a big favour, slap that bass!
I've had this pedal for a while, but usually have a hard time getting the sound I want. I'd more so like to use it as a pre-amp/boost. How would you recommend balancing the eq on this with my amp?
I’m looking into getting a di for my bass for recording. I have a Presonus audiobox interlace with instrument line inputs. Would something like this be useful? Trying to get a good heavy bass tone for rock music.
Hi Bro , What did you used for the recording? Is it a
Direct recording?
Amp?
DAW?
Audio interface?
Awesome review. In your opinion, which pedal is better the mxr m80 or the sans amp bass driver DI version 1?
Great review! I have a couple of questions though: can you turn on the distortion with the effect switch turned off? Does the EQ affect the sound in that case? My idea would be to use the distortion and use the EQ to adjust it, but i wouldn't like the EQ to alter my clean tone. Keep rocking man!
how does this handle low end drop off?
Wow i like that last setting, fuzzy!
Great video. I have one, makes my Rumble 25 sounds killer.
Thanks for the great demo. I’ve been looking for a demo that shows the distortion used more as a light crunch “overdrive” for more subtle nuances and you did that! Now I’m sold on the pedal. This is way better than Aguilar and Sans Amp for sure.
I have one, is it just me or treble knob does little to non change, maybe Im going deaf lol
Thats some incredible one handed playing you got going there.
If the distortion knobs that they put on all these gadgets are way over the top you don't need that much distortion
