Electro Harmonix Bass Mono Synth Demo
The EHX Bass Mono Synth transforms your bass into eleven great sounding synthesizers… from vintage synth emulations to thick, stacked voices to deep pulsing sounds and more.
Its intuitive layout makes it easy to use and easy to dial in good sounds quickly. DRY controls the volume of your dry bass signal at the Synth Output. SYNTH controls the volume of the Synthesizer sound at the Synth Output. Used together they let you create just the right mix. The SENS control, short for sensitivity, adjusts how your playing dynamics trigger the synthesizer and allows you to fine tune the way the pedal responds to your bass rig and playing style.

I loved watching the Korg Pandora stomp pedal it has almost everything on it:)
I'm getting me one of these in the near future.
Got one recently. I'm new to synth pedals but seems to track really badly. What are better synth pedals?
It totally depends on the creativity of the bassist and the type of things he do with it. In this video they do not show all the possibilities that each of the sounds has with an expression pedal (it's basic to get the full potential of the pedal).
I agree that it is not the most suitable for very fast picking, but for example I use it to make suboctave pads with my bass and it works perfectly there. Also indicate that with a little dry signal the tracking feels much better and you gain more and more sounds changing the dry/wet relation, the control knob position and the expresion pedal position.
Wich pedal is better, Mono Synth or Micro Synth?
Poor tracking….the best synth pedal is still the AKAI Deep Impact. Keeps the low end!
But nothing can replace a real synth.
hmmm…in some of the demos, the bassists don't seem to have a solution for dealing with the tracking, and in some cases it doesn't sound musical. it leads me to question the musical competence of the bassists (and I don't mean technique, i mean artistry and conceptualization prior to playing a sound) and/or the capabilities of this pedal. it is like it can be overplayed to the point of incoherence, and these bassists seem to find that point all too often with their wonderful displays of playing technique. In other words, they don't know this pedal well enough to competently demo it, or it just plain sucks. :/
I've just bought one of these and I absolutely love it! Some of the presets need getting used to as it gives the impression that the device is faulty with the sound cutting out, but once you suss it out it's brilliant. I set it to Acid and started jamming along to Jamaican Funk within minutes. This to me is a far more suitable pedal than my Boss SY-1 which lives in its box most of the time. I am going to be making a few bass videos with me playing along to some of my favourite funk tracks.
Yep, a little disappointed with the Mono synth's tracking and latency, so have a Digitech digi wah which seems to perform considerably better. Thanks for the Honesty about tracking as not many reviews really address this.
Would this replicate the synth bass part of u2 streets have no name
Good demo, thanks! It remarkable though that almost everyone plays typical bass stuff which is probably not what you would use it for musically
Own it. Love it. Having an expression pedal hooked up to it opens up so many more sounds, tames some of the more extreme sounds. Tracking issues = clean up your technique.
Hey anyone know what they are using to make the drum beats? Or know of a good product I can get for making simple beats to play along with?
Not sure there is anything better after a day of randomly listening to demos. Tracking is the most important factor of course, yet the hardest to really know without playing. I will definitely be trying this one first.
With a pedal like this, it would have been better not to use reamped players. You really need to play to the pedal with a synth.
I was happy w the tracking until I adjusted the blend and my playing a bit. Blending helped a ton
Great review! Thank you, I definitely want one of these!
Half the things Jamie is playing aren’t coming out
I appreciate you going through the more extreme and gnarly examples of achievable synth sounds, but I was hoping for some subtle examples of bass synth such as those featured in Cherrelle's "Saturday Love" and Pet Shop Boys' "West End Girls"-
I actually got one of these (the joke being to annoy your mates at rehearsals and jams) I must say I’ve found it rather good especially with expression pedal – better than I thought from the promo videos. The tracking isn’t too bad. The one I got rid of was the original ehx bass micro synth – which of course tracks very well being mainly a filter device – very handy for fine tuning your bass sound though.
Thanks
Excellent
is that a PRS bass?!
