"five fret blocks"
Jumping Jack Flash
Death or Glory
– nice bass bits up high!
Only a month later and the Fretboard Accelerator is "sold out" ????
My bass doesn’t have a “ dusty end”. A lot of good color can be derived near the body.
DT yay! Nice to see the guy venture into genres outside funk, blues, jazz, etc., aaaand give a way a 15min master class just like that. 🙂
You should also check the bass lines in this songs:
Dream Theater – Metropolis
Symphony X – The Divine Wings of Tragedy
Evan Brewer – Microscopic Scale
Adam Nitti – Renaissance Man/Rebirth
Men I Trust – Ring of Past
Incognito – Jacob's Ladder
Love you guys. Would be great to see your analysis of the late great Matthew Seligman

Tried out the muse song and my thumb blistered. 10/10 will come back for that one. Such a good song to train the thumb on, as well as some well needed slapping exercise. And thanks for doing Jaco's weather report. I hope one day to master that song as Jaco is; like a lot of other bassists, my favorite one.
Great lesson! Maybe just me but using a fret with markers makes it easier to follow the action
Love the channel. Would love to see a breakdown of Club Tropicana by Wham x
I was so much hoping for another tune from DT Falling into infinity – Just let me breath. At the end of the tune (and somewhere in the middle also) there is this unison run. Just check it out. If I can remember you can play it on a 4 string, although you'll need one with 24 frets. On the 6 string is much easier but…. The speed is killing. Also, Ian – great job with lines in the sand, thank You for the great vid!
Love the P Bass sound!!
Goodbye played by Peter Cetera with Chicago…

This bass line is so crazy!!
Thank you!!!!
The Real Me by The Who.
For Whom The Bells Toll.
Book of Saturday, by John Wetton of King Crimson. Studio version bass is the most melodic bass line ever and uses the entire fingerboard. https://youtu.be/lPutToA0ZHs?si=RFQfpx185rRh2Cq7
Perfect Kiss by New Order
Geddy on The Main Monkey Business qualifies for using the whole neck I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63Q2N1bABKc
I love how this episode incorporated some teaching. Felt participatory rather than spectative.
Parliament – Sir Nose d'Voidoffunk
if possable, us king gizzard fans need you guys to at least mention king gizzard and the lizard wizard basslines, theyre pretty underrated, and lor of lighting uses almost every fret on the neck.
That Stevie Wonder bass line, unison with the horns, sick.
Visions of china, Japan, Mick Karn on fretless bass
Scott you definitely play your ass off man, been a huge fan of your playing for years here on the ole Tube
That Ken Smith does sound incredible.
im in week 7, module 6. I know exactly what you're talking about. Made my musical day.
Heart of the Sunrise by Yes uses a lot of the neck—up to the 20th fret on the G string.
If you want a great classic rock song for playing the entire fretboard with reckless abandon … just play The Real Me by the Who … He is all over the place.
The Four Horsemen by Metallica starts at the bottom of the neck in the usual bass register before climbing all the way to the top of the neck
The Real Me – the Who
PDA – Interpol
Happy – Mudvayne
I'm The Man – Joe Jackson, and most of all…
Flame Of The West – Big Country
The outro for any live version of "song for barry" by brecker brothers. the bass line just keeps rising and rising
Thanks guys, wonderful !
