you'd get closer if you'd use a Jazz bass
Meh
REM's Murmur is about as Rickenbacker"ish" as you can get.
I had a Rick (4003) from 1983-1990 absolutely loved it. The neck started having issues, so I traded it for a Jazz bass.
Its awesome but love both the P Bass n R Bass❤
Have you ever talked about bass great Mark Sandman of Morphine? Two strings with a slide, and great vocalist.
Tyla Campbell of Phil Campbell and the B@st@rd Sons obviously learned something from his uncle Lemmy. He plays a P Bass and gets Ace of Spades and Overkill perfect.
Try an Electromatic Gretsch
The riff sounded vaguely similar to In League With Satan by Venom
If it ain't thrumpty, it ain't humpty
nahhhhhhhhhhh that's not even close
Personally I think the most unique sounding basses ever are from Dingwall. They have this aggressive bump around 2k that no other bass can replicate by themselves
Wait the Ric isn't yours? When I think of Ric I think of you
Yeah the P sounds better.
The Rickenbacker sounds superb.
I am a guitarist and that is my dream bass to own.
Death from above 1979 bass tone pls!!!!!!!!!
Lemmy sucks
Then there's the Stigray!
I think you are using any excuse to play that Ric again…????
Ric was on my short list if I ever started farting money. Came into some cash last year and snagged a 4003.
Least comfortable bass I own to play. Even with a zero mod and bridge bezel, I can't find a good spot to hang my thumb. By default, I've been resting thumb on the neck and playing it Scott Reeder style.
Even though that bass is my least fav to play in the quiver, it is also the most requested by the people I play with for it's tone. So, it gets plenty of playing time and was "worth" it to buy.
Try a Stingray and roll the treble down.
I play a lot of instruments and usually don’t give a shit about quality and stuff. I don’t have money and I’m just trying to learn another instrument, doesn’t have to be fantastic. But even so I have dreamed of having a Rickenbacker 4003 for like eight years now. It’s just so fucking good.
I hate that pickguard so much, Stingray wins for me all day everyday
