My dad
Surprise, I do as well. Same set has been there for over a year now and sound great. I don't have anywhere near even a good portion of the Steve Harris budget.
is there any good reason to change flats ever?
I like flatwounds because i don't get unwanted noise that round wounds make when recording.
Bill Wyman!
Mark King!
It does seem to have a "flatter" sound…
i feel bad for knowing all of theese
Wow, I learnt something new today. I started playing the BEHS because of Steve, and the shop assistant back in 1983 said he used rotosound roundwounds, and I have bought them ever since! IT WAS ALL A LIE 🙂
They all sound shite to me.
Steve Harris probably uses it as a work expense to offset against taxes.
Saw Maiden back in the early 80s at the Omni in Atlanta only I was so sloshed I can't remember it. Now camping in the Turtles Records parking lot for tickets all night I remember absolutely everything. At least until I turned up the second half of that bottle of Golden Grain 200 proof and drank the other half of that quart. I don't drink anymore, which was greatly due to that night, but I have memories from that!
I don't know what strings he used, but my favorite behs line is Funk #49 played by Dale Peter's of The James Gang. I used to know a little more when i played trumpet every day 5th to 11th grade. At the time I hated it because I felt it was forced on me. Now after losing everyone whom I loved thinking of trying it again, I don't think I can remember how. Fucking hell getting old is hard!!
First two are two of my favourite bassists of all time! I've already switched to flats on my electric guitars, so next bass string change will be flats, I think.
You should be proud of being you!..????
You forgot about me
You never mentioned Glen Matlock the Sex pistols bassist on never mind the bollocks
Flats are the only bass strings IMO
Sex Pistols is a garbage band
Fresh flats. You don't hear that very often.
So, we’re pretending the Sex Pistols music was complicated enough to warrant a conversation about what strings were used on their stolen bass? ???? I’m still not convinced Sid could even actually play. ????♂️ Can’t remember the first guys name.
I thought Steve Harris used roundwound strings, or at least it seems he uses them in albums like Fear of the Dark or Brave New World.
Flats are the shit. I like the way they feel to play a lot more than rounds.
What’s a good set of flatwounds for a pbass and what guage??
Bheeeeeeehs
Graham Maby from Joe Jackson's 1st 2 albums. He used an Ibanez Jazz w flats thru a Fender Bassman. Please do a vid about him.
I use flatwounds 🙂
Mike Herrera of MxPx also uses flats, and get some really bodacious clanky pick tones out of them. I believe he uses Ernie Balls
flat wounds every gig..jesus.
I love my flats! Thomastik-Infeld
I have over 100 sets of flat and wound round electric-bass guitar strings in my bass rig gear.
If you don't know the song or never noticed his part PLEASE, PLEASE listen to Burden in my Hand by Soundgarden. Then you will understand why so many of us (including the other members of Soundgarden, who while being brilliant players in their own rights, maintained Ben was the best musician in the band) consider him a genius player.
How could anybody play a guitar when it’s past your knees it looks about as stupid as the way Black people wear their jeans around her ankles
Flats sound like muddy, thuddy ear vomit.
Makes total sense for hard fingers to shave off those shrill peaks. I love them.
Doesn't rancid use flats?
Also Jamiroquai's "Mr Moon" sounds like recorded with flatwounds, and this is a slap bass line!
This is the BEST video you've ever made. GREAT unknown interesting content????
Im so rusty on maiden is that run to the hills bass break?
Some flats on a pj with the tone rolled all the way down, light on the bridge pickup, heavy on the middle/neck pickup, and the bass turned way up is my favorite bass tone. Smooth, warm, round, and heavy.
I knew about Steve Harris but not Ben.
Ben Sheppard on outshined????
Guitar player here…I understand if you're John Entwistle or playing '80s-'90s-style goth music, but if you're not, why aren't you using flats? You can be so much louder in the mix without muddying the overall sound up.
Glen Matlock using jazz flats doesnt surprise me.
Calling Never Mind The Bollocks their "first" album is hilarious ????
Flatwounds are so fun to bend you can feel the string rolling smoothly on your finger.
