  • I second pretty much everyone’s comments. Unbelievable video. Thank you for taking the time to make it and for making it free for wannabe rockstars everywhere. It’s rare I watch a video and know I will sound better after applying what I’ve learned. As they say, not all heroes wear capes. You are a true guitar hero. Subscribing and eagerly awaiting future videos.

  • For a dude who just hit 50 and have only picked up the guitar for the first time, your videos are great. Thank you.

  • I come back systematically here because any detail is not enough , and you give plenty and more. You are my luthier! Thanks for really teaching!

  • I really liked the depth of your explanation, and how to think what happens when you tighten the truss rod (based on wood section format) but just to clarify, at 21:00 you say you don't want the neck to be completely flat, you want a little bit of a back bow, but then when measuring string height at the centre of the neck you want to have the 0.381mm gap, isn't that the opposite of a back bow? I'm going to try to tune a Steinberger I gifted my son this Chrismas, and have seen your other video showing how a headless bridge works, thank you so much for your clear and technical explanations, I haven't seen before how all those parts work with any detail, much less your level of detail that is indeed very useful for understanding how it all works together and how to better tune it 😉

  • While I'm learning by doing (repairing a "tortured" 1976 Ibanez 2393 for the first time) this video answers a lot of my questions. Simply brilliant! Thank you so much!!!!

  • followed this to a t. still has string buzz, what to do? when i adjust truss rod one way, buzz is on fret 1-3. when i adjust it the other way, buzz is on fret 16-17. might be fret height or neck angle? brand new les paul knockoff.

  • Thanks for your effort putting this together. The video angles are amazing.
    This video is G-O-O-D (not just good – really GOOD). Really helpful – informative and down to earth. Keep up the amazing work.

  • Shouldn't you be loosening the truss rod to add relief? You said you were tightening it which would result in the string touching the fret more?

  • Thanks for a fantastic video. I've 3d printed a t style guitar and used a cheap Harley Benton kit as a donor for the neck and pick ups. I needed a good video on setting up. As I don't play guess I'd better take some lessons ????
    If you see this comment and are curious look up Prusacaster to see what I made.
    That guitar you did the demo on is unbelievable, not sure about the spikes though.

  • Is it harmful for the Truss Rod to be on a slight back bow position? (Tight) I've been experimenting with my guitar trying to find balance between Bridge Height (I have a Tune o Matic bridge) and the relation with the Truss Rod tightness or relief. I've encountered on my guitar that if the bridge is low making the action comfortable to play I need to put a lot of relief on the truss rod so the strings does not buzz on the frets which makes playing uncomfortable again… but if I'm on a little bit of a back bow, the string height gets comfortable to play! But in order to not buzz again I need to move up the bridge height.
    This got me in a position where in the first frets the action is super nice and comfortable to play
    But the strings are pretty high from the 12th fret
    It is not bad unplayable and im willing to leave it like that
    But the question arised, could it be harmful for the neck and truss rode, to be on a back bow position? (Slightly)

  • I have some knowledge and a few things seem obvious even to me, but the way you explained them gave me more trust about the things I didn’t understand! Thank you for a well made video :^}
