The Craziest BASS GUITAR Ever! The Ibanez SRAS7 CBS Ashula 7 String
The team at the Ibanez Bass Workshop have delivered once again with their latest 2023 models. Here at Noisegate, we were lucky enough to spend some time with the brand new Cosmic Blue Stardust Ashula SRAS7, and holy moly does this bass do it all. A truly unique instrument both in design and craftsmanship, something that only Ibanez would be bold enough to create, Sam found himself lost in this bass from the minute he first picked it up.
Sam couldn’t think of a more appropriate instrument for the solo bass player looking to build songs on the spot with a looper. Incorporating something like a TC Electronics Ditto, a Boss RC1, or in the case of this video an Elektron Octatrack, really gives you the chance to compose complex musical ideas – all on one instrument.

I'm mainly a 4 string bass guy but this looks to be extremely useful to switch on the fly. Not sure if it's a main instrument but definitely a bass that you could write songs that NEED his bass. Very cool!????????✨

Ibanez should start producing J basses, those pickups sound great. I would love to have an Ibanez bass with that beautiful top in a regular fretted bass 5 or 6 string with the same pickups and electronics. Not too crazy about the sound of the fretless portion though, but those J’s sound great in my opinion !

The tone on the fretless sounded like ass.
They really dropped the ball by not having dual output. Imagine separating the piezzo from the magnetic entirely !
Would I try a 7-string bass? Yes. Would I try this 4-string bass with 3/4 of a second bass attached to it? No. Give me a 7-string built for a crazy metal bassist like me.
I think if you put tapes on the fretless portion and flats on the fretted portion, you could get some really interesting warm/punchy tones on the fretless and a more upright sound on the fretted bit while having a warm thumpy sound overall. it could sound really nice if the main focus is the fretless bit
That ending was so clean, good job Sam! I found this bass on the ibanez website a few months ago and I'm in love. That rendition at the end just set it in stone lol

The Ashula sounds really good, especially the fretless part. Interesting Ibanez used A, D, & G for the fretless strings. Good video.
