  • the dog trick appearing / disappearing is clever – it brings even more attention to the video – well done and by the way : great guitar playing!

  • can you put a tonex into FX look of this unit for delays ? can you connect some studio monitors as audio output ? or does it need something like speaker cabinet ?

  • I've had mine for a week or two and it just sounds incredible. The stereo Reverb is very nice as is and I haven't had to tweak it much at all. My other pedals sound great in front of it and behind it also. I'm running it through a dual path preset in my Helix LT and out to FR speakers and monitors. It spreads that beautiful tube warmth and power all around my room. Very happy with this Imperial pedal!

  • How does this pedal sound with-out an amp or cabinet, and can you use headphones only and still get these rich tones?
My days of stage play are all but over (I am 70) but it would be nice to have a GREAT headphone amp simulator to kick it with at home.
Every plug in style headphone amp I have purchased, and I have them ALL…IMO, are crap.
That includes the NUX, Fender, Boss Katana, vox plug and play, line 6 pocket pod etc.
If this thing does have tubes and doesn't need and amp (as it is one), then this pedal would and could be worth the money.
IF, and that's a big IF it sounds just as good here as at home. Just my 2 cents worth. Peace

  • Crank the modular with the teletone bro ! Sounds awesome . Love that gray n black guitar and the riff dropped down on that.

  • Man, every demo I've watched has the bass on the clean channel turned all the way down. I wonder why you would design a tone stack like that? Does anyone know if the Imperial Mk II amp is the same way? Anyway nice demo. I have one on order and I'm psyched!

  • I disagree about having effects in that preamp. That would just add cost and the effects probably wouldn't be the best for everybody. Having the effects loop would be enough.

It does sound great. How was it recorded?

  • Never heard of this channel but this demo it's just tasty. Nice you sold me on me. Would love to see the honest follow up making it work live and pros/cons performing

  • I own a Tone King Imperial Mk II—-truly extraordinary, The engineer that created the company —-knows how to build great amps. I own a ‘64 Fender DR and a 64 DRRI (which honestly sounds better than my vintage ‘64), but the TK is my fave

  • I’m assuming it has its own power supply, ie you can’t run it on a 9V battery or daisy chain 9V supply like for standard pedals? Thanks for the great demo

  • and after I watched your video on the senselessness of chasing tone LOL. Don't get me wrong I am not busting your ball$ but we all know how tone chasing is. You still made good points that some situations call for other tones that may not be the cats meow to the guitarist or even guitarists but fir the mood of the song and tonal requirements to stand out or cut through or be different. Tone king just needs to add one more section to that box called Shittay tones with various period crappy tones!

  • I’m watching the #33 Tone Talk and Dave Friedman said he was a consultant on the Tone King Tri Tube. Dave is pretty good at getting big Marshall tones out of a preamp. That probably explains why the Marshall tones are good.

  • Bought-one, and I have never wanted to play guitar as much as I do now. IMO, this provides tone-sweet-spots, almost automatically! While a person could dial in tonal dissonance if they desired, however, on this particular product, they'd have a challenge ahead of them! They should have named this preamp pedal, "Like-a-glove!"

  • An awesome pedal and demo! I use this along with IR-J or Small Box 50 head. It's amazing how TK with the IR-J turns both units into a 4 channel amp with reverb and trem.

  • Love the playing however not totally convinced on the funk stuff sound Sounded kinda too direct. Drive sounds were absolutely true.. Thanks I'm going to try to get one to see if I can be happy with the feel and sound of the clean going into FOH. That seems to be the only thing that stops me from trying this. But I have to .. Thanks God Bless

  • If you output it right to your studio monitors (no audio interface) – how does it sound? I only ask because I always use my modeler as my interface. I'm guessing since there is no master volume you need the extra volume push from the interface.

  • Absolutely Brad…the tubes were missing. Great demo! Tone King amps are very high end. Well into $2000-$3000 This at $599, Wow!!!

  • Hey Brad. Have you ever tried an Ethos pedal? I have a Clean Fusion Deluxe that is without doubt the best analogue amp in a box pedal I’ve personally used. Curious if you’ve ever played one and your thoughts. I’ve had all the modelers the UA stuff and every other device in search of tone and the Ethos stuff just shines. Awesome playing and I hope you can finally just play man and not feel like you need to keep searching for that sound

  • So, if I wanted to record directly into my DAW it would have to go through an interface, correct? Also, if I played a gig with it, the XLRs would go right into a powered monitor or the FOH or right into a mixer off to the side of the stage right? Have you had a chance to run in through one of your other amp's fx loop and try it that way? Does it FEEL like the TK Imperial MKII? I've had an Imperial. Is it as good as everyone is saying? Thanks!

  • great demo! Those are some of the warmest sounds I've heard from a preamp.l was deciding between this and the strymon iridium and this is better

  • I own a TK Imp MkII amp that I LOVE and I'm struggling to convince myself that this would be superfluous to own alongside it. I think I want this, too.
