  • I don't play fingerstyle, didn't notice the wide spacing, but loved that sound. Just never heard anything that full and rich on the wound strings before. It sounded like a big, full dreadnaught.

  • Dollar for dollar, any Seagull guitar is a hard act to follow. I currently own a Maritime Mini-Jumbo SWS and we have three S-6's in the family; one cedar top, one spruce and a 'hog. (No…we don't work for Godin.)

  • I love the designed am very interested in a guitar which would do both flatpack and finger style well. However, the sound in this video does no tempt me. Doesn't have the ring of a good indian rosewood dread.

  • Actually, you CAN go wrong with a Seagull.  At least with mine.  But I have a genius luthier that was able to move the saddle back to fix the immensely wrong intonation.  After Jimmy moved the saddle back its intonation is now excellent, even on the lower strings.  Also, the electronics are "eh", so so.  Acceptable.  But the stupid microphone inside is nearly useless.  Blending in the tiniest bit is all that can be tolerated.  The actual sound here in this video is pretty damned accurate.  This is how mine sounds as well.  It's a tricky axe to play.  This guy is a pretty big fella.  For anyone with smaller hands or not used to a classical-style instrument I would try it out first to see if you can handle it.  The guitar has merit and for the money is not a bad instrument.  Beware the intonation, though.

  • I'm looking at a Freshman FA400DCE, replacing one I had stolen recently. I've tried a few of the same ilk and nothing comes close… but I've seen one of these Seagulls second hand for a similar price (£800). Not sure what that is in US$. Has anyone ever compared these two models of guitar who can tell me what their thoughts were on both?
