John Petrucci Dream Theater Triaxis™ / 2:90™ / 2014 Rig Tour Demo
For the 2014 Along for the Ride tour, Dream Theater’s John Petrucci scaled his MESA® touring rig down to a Triaxis™ Preamp, a 2:90™ Power Amp and two Rectifier 1×12 cabs and two 1×12 Mini Rectifier™ cabs. When John visited the Mesa factory last year he brought his live rig to the Mesa Video Lounge to walk us through the signal chain and to play through the rig.
Signal Chain: Ernie Ball Music Man Majesty 6-string guitar – Pedals (Grid Slammer™, Tone-Burst™, Jim Dunlop EVH Phase 90, TC Electronic Dreamscape, Analog Man Juicer Compression pedal, Boss Dimension C) – Triaxis – AxeFX (FX Only) – 2:90 Power amp – Rectifier 1x12s and Mini Rectifier 1x12s.
Recorded with a Shure SM57 and a Shure KSM 313.

Tried getting the Poweramp and preamp back in the 90's, but my Dad said it was too expensive (a hair over $3k at the time) and settled on Rocktron gear. And thus, GAS has stayed with me.
Saw he on Wednesday in Montreal and his sound was incredible I have his guitar his amp and it still doesn't sound like him
I wonder if he was actually going TriAxis>AxeFX>2/90 or if he had the AxeFX in fx loops
name of the song at the very beginning of the video?
4:25 that's what you must hear when you get to the heavens.
Amazing ……..
I know this is a old video. But I always wondered which mesa boogie 1×12 cabinet sounded best. The original 1×12 rectifier cabinet or the slant mini 1×12 rectifier cabinet. Once seeing this video I realize that he only had mic the bottom 1×12 rectifier cabinets and not the slant mini ones. So for this video the big great sound was coming off the bottom 1×12 rectifier cabinets and not the top minis.
Need to reissue the triaxis. Huge market for it
Triaxis this is FOREVER in my heart and fingers!
Mesa Boogie!Best guitar gears in human history!
I dont like this sound horrible????????????
shoulda gone with the Quad, sounds better than the triaxis
Mega God….
I would absolutely love to have the gear in this vid. That clean sound with the volume pedal at the start makes me feel nostalgic. Wonderful
THIS ONE OF.
IF NOT MY ALL TIME FAVORITE VIDEO ON YOUTUBE..
UNCLE~MR.JOHN PETRUCCI IS AN ABSOLUTE PHENOMENAL GUITARIST…

Thank you John for sharing this information with us all. I have one question because I have a similar set up. I have the Triaxis with the 2/90 and Rocktron Intellifex. The problem I had was getting a little boost when doing a solo. I ended up using a stereo volume pedal from the Rocktron then back to the amp. It's messy and lots of wires. I know you haven't used this rig in a while but do you know if there is a way to get a small boost with a footswitch or some other way? Thank you.
amazing but still expensive traxis used
pretty hard to beat rack mount components…
